Growing Success Advanced Slug Killer is a blue pellet containing a naturally occurring active ingredient; Ferric Phosphate. The pellets can be used around edible and non-edible plants. On moist soil or in humid conditions granules take up water and begin to swell. Slugs prefer moist and soaked granules. Once attracted to and consuming the bait pellet, slugs cease to feed. They then crawl into the ground or a secluded location to die, leaving no unsightly trace of slime secretion and no necessity to collect corpses. This product is not safe to use around children & pets so use as advised. Review: Very good product - I use only this product for killing slugs. It works well and the slugs somehow disappear - they are supposed to dig in ground once they eat the pellets. This is much nicer than having dead slugs everywhere in pots and garden. Note that if you put too much of it around, the slugs won't manage to eat it all and the pellets after about two weeks get kind of mouldy. Don't over kill it and you should be fine. I also noticed that the blue pellets really do not attract animals neither birds at all. It seems to be well safe. Review: Really good slug control - These have been amazingly effective. Having tried beer traps, sticky tape and similar low tech solutions to slugs eating my runner beans, I decided to try a chemical approach. I opted for these as being OK for cats & other wildlife. Had to estimate the recommended quantity - seemed a very meagre scattering on the soil. The blue pellets were visible for several days, but gradually disappeared and I have not had any slug damage since putting them down. So I now have a huge quantity of effective slug pellets which will last for years!

My niggle is that there is not enough information: ...
My niggle is that there is not enough information: one assumes that this will do the job for snails as well as slugs and there's nothing really about the safety of the chemical for wildlife, birds and hedgehogs. I went for this after reading some RSPB info. but there is a lot of conflicting advice on the web. It seems to work at protecting hostas and other vulnerable plants. But perhaps the slugs are mutating into creatures of monstrous size as all the bait was taken on the first night - but many of the hosta leaves had been snapped off and strewn around, and lots of small pebbles the size of bantams eggs had been moved by the midnight prowler in its search for the bait! I suspect early morning crows or magpies spotting the bait and doing the damage and stone-moving. I've tied shiny foil onto sticks nearby and this seems to have stopped the problem.

Excellent product and worked first time I used it
Excellent product and worked first time I used it. You could say an overnight success. The garden was overrun by slugs and I would wake up to silver paving in the back garden. So now it is all clear no slug trails anywhere. So a success I am so pleased.

Seems to keep slugs at bay, but turn to mold when wet!
This product seems to do the trick at keeping slugs at bay; however, the pellets do seem to rot down very quickly and seem to grow mold very quickly when they get wet? I think the main selling point for me is that they are approved for organic farming, so I can't benchmark against conventional pellets as I don't use them. I do like the product as it seems to have helped; however I am a little dubious about the longevity of the product as the pellets rot down very quickly and as I've said, seem to turn into balls of mold when they get wet... these pellets only lasted 2 weeks or so... Try it and see if you like it. I would be more tempted to apply sparsely in future though just to make the tube last longer.

Organic & wildlife friendly!
Arrived promptly and was well wrapped. I have used this product for over a year and like the fact that its organic and pet & wildlife friendly. My only complaint is that it used to come with a fitting (a top with a small hole) in the container which stops too much of the product coming out when its shaken over the garden. The latest container did not have this, no doubt to increase usage of the product, as without this fitting it is hard to control how many pellets come out. I took the fitting off my last container and fitted into the top of the new one. Other than this I have no complaints. It is an expensive product and a similar product can be bought at a cheaper price from Wilko. However, I would recommend this product.

seems to work well
Funny weather this year but put this down and much less slug and snail activity - they all seem to gather up in trees and gratefully picked off by a scruffy blackbird! Nice to know toad, birds and cat will be safer for using this instead of metaldehyde alternatives

Good product and value for money
Good safety lid but this can sometimes be a bit temperamental to put back on. Overall product is as described and has definately worked to keep the slippery suckers away from my plants outdoors.
