Can I connect 4 water butts and attach a hose to it? Would be the other way round. 4 hoses in and 1 out

Yes the flow can be reversed but only if you are pumping from your water butt as like all connections it relies on pressure

Can I fit this Hozelock 2 way tap on the end of a hosepipe already laid in my garden, therefore giving me the option to run to further hoses of it.

no. you can either attached theis to a tap and run extention hiose from the outlets or what i have done is hoselock do what they call repair kits. tney are great they come as elbows or straights and tees. wonderful all around the garden. where you need to extend hoses. hope this is of some help.
