Can I use the extra pistol pouches for anything else?

They're really small in comparison to other pouches say 30-40mm in size. You could possibly put thundersticks in there (if using for airsoft) or maybe pieces of a cleaning kit (if you're using for a live-fire situation) as they're around 25mm in size. Hope this helps.

how many g36 mags can it take?

Not sure G36 mags will fit at all unless you grind off the tabs that let you clip them together and possibly the ridge above the clips (that indexes the bottom of the mag well). There are 8 assault rifle size magazine pouches in the vest though and molle space for more pouches on the both sides, it's a great vest for the money.

Will this fit a big man I'm a 52 inch gut lol ?
