Status 9 Inch Oscillating Desk Fan, White

Other than having to put it all together yourself, well it isn’t hard to do it’s actually really easy, it works like a dream and is perfect.

So far so good. I like the fact that the “badge” on the front saying “Status” doesn’t need to be installed ;-) It works perfectly but does have a slight hesitation before completing the turn when oscillating, which is a bit off putting given that the fan’s design is the same as my other one that is still going strong after a quarter of a century despite being stored in a damp shed every winter for 20 years and has never had any hesitation when turning. I bought it as an additional fan due to recent heatwaves, not to replace my other one. I have therefore kept the box just in case it fails and I have to return it. Looks perfect, especially without the “brand” badge, and so far is working well other than the slight hesitation when oscillating.

Be aware - you get what you pay for. Lightweight polythene/plastic blades and spindle cap. Tiny locking screw and nut for cage. All of which makes assembly fiddly in addition to useless photo guide to assembly. Requires patience and imagination. I got there in the end. Seems to function well but I' m not sure how durable it will be if put to continuous use. Wouldn't buy again.

I think that for the money it is OK, it is - after all - pretty cheap. As you'd expect it is fairly flimsy and lightweight, it doesn't seem to clip into the base super securely as a result. I have two key issues with it: 1. It is actually 11 inches in diameter, so a lot bigger than I was expecting... I guess the 9" is probably the blade diameter. 2. Its balance isn't perfect so it can get into a state where it vibrates quite badly, though it doesn't do this all the time. It makes it more dicey to use on the faster setting, but doesn't have as much of a problem with the lower setting. But... it is *OK*, and I only bought it to blow air across my seedlings and it is fine for that job.

I bought a 12in Status fan a few years ago and it has given good, quiet service ever since. So after the May heat-wave I bought these two 9in fans. Like the older fan, they are very quiet in operation and do not affect listening to TV/Radio nor interfere with sleep when in use all night. They have two-speed operation and both speeds are sufficient to give a good circulation of air. James.
