So many uses
Really pleased with this item. Bright and sturdy, sits nice and flat. Great as a bacon crisper but has so many uses, I use mine for cooking baked potatoes on and for defrosting frozen meats and other foodstuffs. Wouldn’t be without it.

Brilliant
Works brilliantly. Nice crisp bacon in minutes. So much easier than frying or grilling. This is my 2nd crisper. I've had the 1st one for about 2 years but it was getting a bit scratched and difficult to clean. For the price its exceptional.

"Bacon" crisper - for other things
Stuck with limited access to an oven I picked this up to see how effective it was with other things, principally veggie food. The reason for trying with other things is I'm fed up with using the microwave and the moisture collecting at the bottom leading to "damp" crusts etc. the grid on the crisper seemed a good way to allow air to circulate and avoid the worst of this (knowing that microwaving food for an oven is never going to lead to as good a result). It arrived today and after four trials I can say I'm pretty happy, they were: - Started simple, warmed up a pasty. Normally in a microwave these would start to fall apart, not here. Still a little damp (as to be expected), but the moisture collected on the tray, away from the pastry leaving it easy to eat. - Moving onto something a little tougher, baguette pizza. These are 20 minutes in the oven from frozen, or 3 minutes on the tray. When heated up on a plate these normally come out as if they have been dipped in water. They were not crisp as if oven-baked (I didn't expect them to be), but not having the bread base fall apart was a win in itself. All told quite impressed and looking forward to seeing if it will also work with frozen mini-pizza. - Stepping up a little, chips, well actually potato lattices. In for a few minutes and then on minute increments. They didn't crisp (wasn't expecting them to), but when stuck with only a microwave to cook with they came out better than any others (save microwave chips, but not seen them in a shop for ages). - Given previous success one final test: halloumi. This is where it met its match, as the cheese softened it just melted into the raised base so no real effect. All in all, a few quid well spent and more than a few more options in the supermarket of things to microwave that come out edible! Looking forward to trying veggie burgers later in the week!

Bacon lover success story
Fantastic bit of kit. I've always been sceptical regarding microwaving bacon but thought I would give it a go. I never fry as prefer to have as little fat as possible so I always grill it but getting crispy bacon this way usually results in burnt edges and constantly moving it around from the hot spots in the grill. This micro-tray took 3 mins 30 seconds to produce fantastic crispy bacon. I can't recommend it enough for the time it took and what it produced. The fat falls into the grooves and away from the bacon. Its also the same size as a piece of Kitchen towel which I placed on top to avoid any fat jumping all over the microwave, you can then use this to pat away more fat from the top surface of the bacon. It's also really easy to clean. Nothing else to say other than get this and you won't regret it.

Difficult to clean
The yray works ok but is difficult to clean. The bacon far seems to collect in the grooves and doesn’t easily was out. I have to boil water in the kettle to break the fat in the grooves are normal brushes and clothes don’t work

Spiffing - cooks nicely, easy to clean
Very handy. Unlike grilling it, I can cook bacon for a specific time in the microwave so I cannot ruin it by being distracted for a minute or three. I find microwaved bacon just as nice as grilled bacon. This tray is also much easier to clean out afterwards than the grill. I will not use it more than twice in quick succession with giving it a wipe over. When I ran it through half a dozen times** without any wiping [I just poured out the liquid each time], some small areas burnt and pitted the plastic underneath. [** Preparing a lot of cooking bacon for the freezer so it's ready just to throw into things without any further cooking being essential - this is a breeze in the microwave but used to be an hour's chore when grilling]

Great for the reason I purchased it
I have only used this once so am hedging my bets and only giving 4 stars at the moment. I read another review that mentioned it was difficult to get the fat out of the grooves as the ridges went right to the edge so she puts a sheet of kitchen towel under her bacon as well as over (to prevent splashes). I found this worked very well but be warned, take the paper away immediately as once the fat starts to cool it will stick to the paper and you won'r get it off. I was realistic and knew I would not like this method of cooking bacon if I was having bacon on a plate (with chips, egg etc etc) but thought it would be really handy for bacon in my cheese & bacon toastie or bacon rolls & sandwiches. I was right, it was really good. I have given 4 stars on the basis that I was being realistic and know it can't compare with crispy f ried bacon but for the purpose for which I bought it, it functioned spot on. The reason only 4 stars is two-fold. The main one is that I can only get 3 slices of back bacon on there at a time, again not too much of a problem for sandwiches or toastie, and the second one is that I am not sure how well it will hold up with use. I will update later and take off a star if it disintegrates and leave it at 4 stars if it stays functional.
