Compact, efficient and stocked survival kit
A fantastic small kit, gives all you need bar 1 item, I personally put in (which was a small razor blade for cutting)

Quality stuff
It is amazing how much of meaningful, quality stuff can be packed into such a small tin! This is a MUST have for anybody who hikes, travels, does bush-craft or finds him/herself in emergency survival situation. It contains a list of contents and clear explanation what things are for. Compass works fine. The tin is small enough, you can put it into the jacket or even trousers pocket. It is made of durable material. This little tin IS a real thing. Money well-spent. I do recommend.

Superb
A good quality tin which packs a lot of content for the size. Ideal as a backup, I carry one in each of my work bags where I am limited on space. The snare wire was used within one day of the kit arrival to reach into a confined space and recover a key that had been dropped. I've added a square of duct tape to mine affixed inside the lid and on the base. I have also halved two tinder sticks from the polymath EDC kit and these sit comfortably within the tin ready to light with the enclosed firesteel. The small length of paracord is of good quality. Given this is genuine paracord it'll actually give 8m of cordage if you separate the strands. This itself also makes for fire tinder if needed. This is a small tin... It fits into the small change pocket or a pair of jeans. With so much packed into such a small item there is little to fault. All in - a great product for the price and rather useful day to day

Superb service and excellent kit as always from Polymath
Superb service as always from Polymath. Despite having seen the pictures and the dimensions, it still hadn't sunk in just how small this kit really is, probably because of the extensive range of items they have managed to pack in. All of the items are good quality: the liquid filled compass works perfectly and has no air bubble, the ferro rod produces plenty of hot sparks, the whistle is small but surprising loud, the paracord is woven into a short lanyard and all of the smaller items are tightly packed into a small poly bag. As with almost every kit, the included fish hooks are too big for fresh water (small hooks catch big or small fish, big hooks only catch big fish). They would be fine for salt water but this isn't a kit for survival at sea! That is my only criticism though and for a few pence the hooks are very easily replaced with smaller ones fixed to line. I bought 2 of these kits and the size makes it perfect for 1 to be an urban kit of emergency items that are carried but not used every day. In that I'll be taking out a few of the pieces (fishing kit, 1 coil of wire, paracord) and replacing them with a few others (small tube of emergency dental fill, some dental floss - also makes good cordage - small pencil and sheet of waterproof paper, etc.). I've extensively tested and used many different mini kits in tins and pouches during my nearly 50 years of outdoor activities, including 22 of military service. You have to accept them for what they are i.e. they don't 'enable' you to survive but they do provide a selection of small items that make it that little bit easier to make best use of your knowledge and skills for survival when you are so tired and cold and possibly injured and confused that the extra energy and effort required when relying on all natural materials e.g. weaving plants into cordage, or using a bow drill for fire making, can be almost too much. These kits from Polymath provide a sensible selection of good quality items for the purpose, in a very compact form. For those just starting to develop their skills, the included instruction sheet also provides a clear, easy to follow, guide. Well done Polymath!

Ideal for walkers/hikers.
Polymath Products have got this kit exactly right. It has everything you need in it, other than shelter and a knife and nothing you dont. I'm extremely impressed with the quality of the individual components. At ยฃ11.99 (as of 1st October 2021) this has to be the best buy on Amazon by some.distance. Big signal mirror. A combined whistle/ ferro rod. The whistle is LOUD. Seriously loud. A decent quality little coin torch that is properly bright. That's impressive, I have come across a large number of these torches that are pretty meh. Eight water purification tablets that have a long expiry date. The water carrier (unlubricated condom) is adequate to the job. A decent sized candle to help with fire lighting or illumination. That I like. It's surprising how much warmth a good candle can provide in a properly constructed shelter. A small, decent quality fishing kit. Not essential, but nice to have. Enough 550 cord to be useful. Button compass is accurate. Usual story, isn't intended for ultra fine navigation, but good enough to hold a line of bearing. The whole kit, tin included is extremely light weight. It's a shoo in for long distance hikers, even the ultra lightweight one's. This, a space blanket and a Swiss Army knife in your pockets/fanny pack/bag just in case.

Ok back up kit
Bought this as a "wilderness" emergency back up, seems to be a good mini back up kit. Pros: Good price considering the amount of items you get. Good spread of items (see advertised kit content list) Handy size, can keep in your pocket, in a small pouch on your belt, in your back pack or day sack Just enough space to add extra items i.e. extra water purification tablets, more small safety pins, tinder ... Makes a great present Cons: Paracord length could be longer (in fairness I'm not sure how that makers could resolve this) Compass takes a little while to get it's bearing, a couple of gentle taps and make sure it's level (it's not going to be as accurate as good Silva compass but it's good enough to give you general directions/bearing in emergencies). Fishing line test strength could be stronger maybe 10lbs or 20lbs, but allegedly the world record for catching a Black Marlin on 6 lbs test line is 735 lbs 3 oz! If too much is packed in the hinges start to give a little (maybe makers could consider a tough durable plastic snap container that is slightly bigger) Overall verdict: I like the product, it will help in emergencies and I hope to see more from Polymath Products. NB: Polymath Products also sell/make a decent Ultra Compact Survival Kit that is also worthing looking at. Updare - 10/2/2016 - Sadly the compass failed, it's just useless, but the rest of tin + contents were ok. The small chem light wasn't as bright as I had hoped, but then again it's tiny. I noticed that the tin has had some more items added since I bought this i.e. range band/rubber tubing, whistle. If Polymath Products could source a much better compass and possibly a bigger tin then I'd happily part with money. I like what Polymath Products are doing with their range of little kits, so please guys try and make some improvements! - Thank you.

Nice little tin. Good selection of items. Can even fit a couple extra essentials.
Excellent little kit. I managed to fit in some extra wipes and a couple Tinder sticks (also from Polymath). I like using this as an EDC item. It slides into a pocket and I barely notice it. While I don't expect to run into a survival situation, I have made use of a number of the items to handle every day situations. Besides, with how small it is, if I never used any of it, it's still well worth carrying for the insurance. While the item is very small and things are packed pretty tight, I was impressed with how easy it was to take things out, and get them back in. Half the time you get these things out, and realise there's absolutely no way to get them back in the way they came. That's not the case with this little tin. I've been able to easily dismantle and put back together on the go as/when needed. The weakest point to the kit is the ranger band. The ridge on the tin will eventually cause the band to split. By eventually, I'm not talking very long, a couple months of regular carry. Fortunately, it looks to just be made of bicycle inner tube. I'm sure I can find a spare inner tube around the house somewhere to replace it periodically.
