Nice built quality pen - two light intensities and easy to find AAA battery
Got this specifically red light LED pen for waking up at night to write notes and thoughts by bedside. I think red light is better than white light to avoid disturbing sleep. Build quality feels good. Ink flows well and smooth (come with refills for each pen) The pen body is painted smooth and can be a bit slippery for a thick pen. It does feel heavy with the center of gravity just in the middle (see 3rd photo), partly due to AAA battery. Pen diameter is about 12 mm for the pen-nib half and about 13 mm for top-switch half (not including the pen clip). To write, you need to twist lower half of the pen (that is away from the top switch). But this twist is a bit stiff, so I usually leave the nib out and put in a pen holder by my bedside. There are 2 light intensities - 30% and 100%, by toggling the switch on top. It has a nice click sound (as in video). As another user noted there is some rattling sound from this switch if you shake pen strongly side to side, but not a deal breaker. Also, the red light is actually just smooth red. In the video, for strange reasons, my camera shows this poorly as some yellowish-orange glow (tried several times but same results). The first 2 photos are the closest that reflect the actual looks in person - smooth dull red. Kind of like those photo dark rooms. It comes with AAA battery installed and a protective black cap on the switch (to prevent switching on during transit). Just remember to pull off this black cap first to reveal the switch. It also comes with a tiny cloth pouch. All in all, it's a useful red LED pen with 2 light intensities and uses AAA battery. It's a bit heavy (can get use to it) and stiff-turning (use pen holder), but works well for me to jot notes in the middle of night without disrupting my sleep. Really useful and awesome pen!

Works well for writing at night
My original one star review: Only worked for a couple days. Immediately got my money back. Don't waste your time. My five star review: After Yacig replaced the pen with one that works I am very satisfied. The pen is still a bit too heavy for my taste due to the AAA battery. But the red light is easy enough on the eyes that I can write with it when I wake up at night without turning on a light. That's what I bought it for and I'm satisfied. I'm giving it 5 stars due to the absolutely amazing customer service effort.

Too bright and light flickers annoyingly when I try to write with it.
I bought this to write with in the night as to not wake up my spouse or have a light that would be too bright and keep me from getting back to sleep after I use it. I thought the red light brilliant for that use. However, it is much too bright. It made my head hurt to try and use it. The light, aside from being too bright, seemed fine until and try to write with the pen, then the light would flick on and off annoying as I applied pressure to the paper. Once I let up the light was fine again. This is a great concept but did not work as I had hoped and seems to be defective. I am returning it. I gave it two stars instead of one because the pen does write. I agree with other comments that it is large and heave due to the batteries. They need to work on the overall design. Lighter, smaller, and make the light brightness adjustable.

I love the red light, not great quality.
Excellent idea, having the light at the tip, and being red makes it easier on the eyes to see and write in darkness. I use it for writing down dreams in the middle of the night. I also appreciate the AAA battery it takes, as that's easier than dealing with button cells. It is nice that the ink cartridges are replaceable, and it includes a couple replacements, but you will need to buy more with time. They are the screw-in type. The paint on the pen isn't scratch resistant, and chips off easily. Also, the light itself has issues, blinking off occasionally, so I'll tap the pen to get it to light back up for me. These days, having run out of ink, I don't even use it as a pen, but rather as a red flashlight for writing at night. Honestly this pen has several issues worth noting, but overall, it's still fine for what it is and does.

A great pen and amazing customer service from Yacig!
I love these pens and I have an AMAZING Yacig customer service story to share - highly recommended. Here's how I use them, what I think of them, and my customer service story: I use my Yacig LED pens every week. I'm a writer and often jot down notes in places where the lights are low, like at the movies. The Yacig LED pens are subtle enough that I can see what I'm writing in a pocket notebook without disturbing other moviegoers around me. The low setting red is especially perfect for this. My movie newsletter is made better by using Yacig LED pens because now I can give my readers accurate dialogue and scene summaries of new movies. These pens are among my favorites now. Ink flows well, the clip is sturdy metal, and the barrel has a smooth feel for a professional, clean look. It's durable, too, and I know from having dropped mine a few times. The twist function for the pen tip is simple and the click for the light is quick. You'll notice it has a heft to it, with more weight than your standard ball point pen. That's to be expected, given it has electronics and a battery in it. The instruction manual is helpful for changing out the ink cartridge and inserting one of the included refills. I don't know enough about ink refills to know if they're truly a standard size, but poking around Amazon, I see others that look very similar. I appreciate that some are included with a 2-pack, adding value to the reasonable price. I now have several of these pens - not because they don't last, but because of the amazing customer service at Yacig. I ordered a red 2-pack but lost one fairly quickly, so I ordered a second 2-pack, both orders from Amazon. Because the original worked well, I didn't test the new pair for months. When I did, neither of the pens' lights worked, no matter what I tried, and I was long past the Amazon return window. I wrote to Yacig customer service asking if they had ideas or solutions and they responded in less than 24 hours. I was amazed at their response: they would mail me a new 2-pack of red pens, plus a white pen for my trouble. They mailed the replacements and TWO bonus white pens that week - that is customer service that goes above and beyond! When a small business makes things right, it's important that people hear about it. I'll add that for how I use the pens, I still prefer red to white, but the white pens are definitely of equal quality. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a good writing session with your new pens!
