Starting Out with Java: Early Objects (5th Edition) Review: Highly recommend this textbook! - This textbook is stellar. It is extremely well organized, and topics are presented in an order that makes sense. Gaddis provides plenty of well-formatted, easy-to-read code examples, along with their respective output. Very few, if any, typographical errors. The "Common Errors to Avoid" section at the end of each chapter is helpful, as are the review questions, exercises, and programming challenges. Review: Good book for learning Java - This is my second book from this author. I really like the way he introduces OOP from the very beginning. Well written, easy to follow, great for learning.

Get this book to learn Java!
This book probably has the most simplified and clean approach to teach Java. I learn Java using this textbook even though I was required to used a different book.

I hate his guts
Java is a difficult program to master. Any problems I have with Java are with the creator John Gosling, I hate his guts. But fortunately the book gave plenty of examples of how Java applications work. I also tried checking out a book from the library, called Java 24 and it wasn't as helpful. The class I have is frustrating, and there is so much material to cover, so I ended up getting a tutor.

Book was exactly what I needed for my course, and a lot cheaper than the bookstore. As someone who is already familiar with programming, the book starts out a bit slow by explaining very basic things that a newcomer to programming would appreciate more than me.
