Superman: Birthright The Deluxe Edition

Fast delivery, average packaging, and Good product. This comicbook is the best Superman Origin hardcover comics. This is better than buying the singles but still I would recommend getting the single issue to support the writers and artists.

While not a major reader of Superman I have read enough and this stood out as such an exceptional piece. It’s a fantastic stand-alone origin that pays homage to the well-trodden classic elements of the character, with a wonderful fresh reinvention. Clark has never seemed so human, the relationships with Ma and Pa are just so well done, and Luthor is powerfully humanised as a hyper-intelligent, tragic outcast. Jimmy, Lois and Perry are terrific and I thought the art by Yu (my first exposure to this work) was brilliant, with some amazing full-page splashes, and some facial expressions that were at times wonderfully comic, other times deeply sad and tragic. I have to hand it to Mark Waid, his love for Superman shines through and I have never loved the character more than this. Easy 5 stars.
