Good Game

Why did you pick this product vs others?:This is a very good game that requires some thinking skills but not too intense. My 11 year old son liked it a lot and spent long periods of time with it when he first got it. I don't think its the type of game that he will keep going to like risk or monopoly as he kind of tired of it and mostly finished all the levels. Perhaps anfter taking a break for a few weeks he will or we will keep it for our next son.. I am happy I purchased it since it's hard to find things to keep this age busy by himself that require thinking skill and keep him away from a screen!

You must get the elastic band through the target, most of the time.

This is the second game I have got from the creator Thinkfun and I like it just as much as the first one. Spiderweb is a single player game, that can occupy you for a while without needing to turn on a screen. At first, I was irritated, because I thought that the lines on the transparency card were off, and did not line up with the challenge cards. Then I realized, I needed to adjust things a little bit in the plastic brown holder. As I have played this game, it has gotten more interesting. However, in the beginning, I was frustrated because I had gone through the bug, but not the red target on the bug. I figured that my cards had been printed wrong. As I continued to adjust the rubber bands around the board, I realized that the cards were not wrong, my alignment of the rubber bands was incorrect. This game does cause you to think. You can be very close to being correct, and still be wrong. This game comes with a nice storage box, and an easy way to store the items inside of it. It will be great to travel with older children, who can keep the pieces together without losing them. I was going to put this in my camper, so that when kids needed some downtime, they would have something that they could play individually. But, I think I will probably keep it in the house instead, that way, if I’m playing a group game with the younger kids, the older kids can have something to do to keep themselves occupied. The only downside to this game is that I wish it came with a lot of extra rubber bands. I do have a child who likes to take the rubber bands and flick them across the room, never to be seen again. it is important to have three different sizes of rubber bands, because the blue rubber bands are smaller and only touch two pegs. The red rubber bands are medium and they need to touch three pegs. The yellow rubber bands are the largest, They need to go around four pegs.I’m very appreciative for the included instruction/solution book. They did a very nice job in making the pictures easy to understand, as well as the whole function of the game.It really is best for ages 8 and up, although younger kids would enjoy it too. They probably would be able to just catch the bugs, without getting the elastics through the target on the bugs, and be happy playing that way. As long as you didn’t show them the solution book, they wouldn’t know that they were wrong, and they would still have a good time.

Winner with my autistic & ADHD son!

I originally got this game for my almost 10 year old since he is usually really into board games and this looked like an interesting single player game, which in my experience a good single player board game is not easy to find! But now that I have played it a few times and so has he, I actually found that my 6 year old with ADHD and whom is likely autistic but is still in the process of getting diagnosed is a much better match for this game.Of course being 6 he does need me to help with the cards frequently, but he will sit down and play this game for a good 1- 1 1/2 hours and he loves it. So if you have an autistic child or one with ADHD, or both, this Spiderweb: A Bug-Catching Logic Game may be just the game you have been looking for!

We always enjoy discovering a completely new game.

My wife and I are lifelong game players and, like millions of other American families, we grew up in a family that encouraged game play from cards and board games to jigsaw puzzles and outdoor games as well. In each household in our family there's a game cupboard or closet jammed with various games we enjoy together at occasional gatherings. And we're not alone. I'm a journalist and I've reported on the continuing interest in boardgames, year after year. What's rare is to find a game we haven't seen before, like this one!At this point in our lives, most games are "oh, just like" such-and-such game we've played. This one? The whole idea of stretching bands to mark areas in a physical board is something fresh, at least in our experience. We also will quibble with the estimate that this is a game designed for kids starting at age 8.We've actually played this with a 3-year-old who loves it. Of course, we're adapting the game beyond the official rules to play with our young granddaughter. If you want to accomplish the specific challenges outlined in the game, then this is probably for slightly older kids up through adults. But there's a lot of delightful game play in simply saying: Can you stretch these bands to catch these bugs? And then let a preschooler figure out ways to accomplish that challenge. We're giving this 5 stars for its fresh design and for its playability even with younger children.
