These are rubber type capes to prevent blockages to nozzles in an Ansul hood system. The blockages are caused by grease laden vapours entering the unprotected nozzle and condensing and hardening. The manufacurer specifies that the caps are replaced annually (regardless of condition.) These caps are of good quality and fit well. If you are involved in some form of "commercial cooking" protected by an older Ansul extinguishing system it should be inspected twice a year by a qualified technician who should replace any missing caps (or those due by date.) Sometimes caps get lost and (if it is some time before a scheduled inspection) these will provide a good replacement
