Don’t miss the #1 New York Times and USA Today bestselling, addictive psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping twist that’s burning up Instagram and TikTok—Freida McFadden’s The Housemaid is perfect for fans of Ruth Ware, Lisa Jewell, and Verity. Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor. I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband Andrew seems more broken every day. But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband. I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out … and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of … Review: W O N D E R F U L ! - I recently finished reading The Housemaid and absolutely loved it. From the very beginning, the story pulled me in with its suspense, shocking twists, and constant mystery. Every time I thought I had figured things out, another surprise completely changed the direction of the story. It was one of those books that kept me guessing until the very end. The pacing was excellent, and the characters were so interesting that I couldn’t stop reading. I honestly could not put the book down because I always needed to know what would happen next. If you enjoy psychological thrillers filled with drama, secrets, and unexpected turns, this book is definitely worth reading. Highly recommend! Review: Casual reading - I've been going through all the Frieda McFadden books over the past 6 months. The Housemaid series is definitely her best work. I'm not surprised she got a movie deal. I'm not good at writing book reviews but all her books are good. They're not long, use simple language, no explicit sexual narrative, quick and easy to read. There's a lot of talk in all her books about weight, body sizes, etc. and I am not a fan of that I find it triggering. A lot of oggling at the men. All of her books she has to mention so and so is scarfing food down, she's fat and needs to get her roots touched up. That's the common theme honestly. It's fun to try to figure out the twists and then most of the time it ends up being the most random ridiculous thing. Makes me laugh. I am getting better at figuring them out though.

Highly recommended!
Freida’s done it again. Her books are so brilliant. They’re propulsive, fast action thrillers that you absolutely cannot put down. I probably read this in a day and now I want the other two books in the series. Having seen the series on TV, I’m now determined to read the books before the next one comes out this year. Nina is such a psycho. I began to wonder what was really wrong with her and it wasn’t until the end that I realized how cleverly written the book was. This is plotting at its absolute best. You absolutely have no idea what the twist will be or where they’ll come. Even with all the psychological thrillers, I’ve read over the past three years, I wouldn’t have guessed it. Sharp writing that gets straight to the point always gets my vote. Another brilliant read from a brilliant author. Highly recommended!

A NEW FAN !
For many years, I read nothing but non-fiction. I wanted to learn something. Something that I could apply to my life, that would improve it, make it better. Knowledge that would transform my personality. Transform me into a happier person. I wasn't interested in just more distraction. Lately, though, I've opened my mind to venture into works of fiction. In my search to find the right book, I noticed that this author had many six-digit, positive reviews. This one, The Housemaid, had the highest review count. I purchased the paperback copy. I know that this may seem strange to some, but there is just this sense of satisfaction when you see a book on your shelves, that you began and finished. I really enjoyed this story. It seemed plausible. Something that could really happen. I loved that in the beginning; I fell under the impression that a certain character was the flawed one, the dysfunctional one, the one who was bat crazy. She made me angry, because in real life, there are certainly people like that. Then, as the story progressed, I realized that this person, whom I thought was loco, was really highly intelligent. She had masterminded the entire tangle. There is a little bit of romance, also, that had me rooting for the two people who were attracted to each other. I truly enjoyed the twists and turns, and being surprised when things turned out to be the opposite of what I was led to believe. The ending was satisfying, and I enjoyed the book so much that I immediately ordered another from this author. I also enjoyed that one so much that I finished it in three sitting. Two with The Housemaid. I highly recommend any book that this author has written. She certainly rekindled my love of reading!

Such a good read!
This book is one I have been able to read for hours in a sitting! The thrill of what came next, the plot twist of the wife’s plans, the twisted evil family, and the gardener who didn’t say much but did so much! I watched the movie before reading the book and the book was so much better! The movie did some things differently to give it more of an ‘ummpphh’ i guess, but the book details were so much better. LOVE LOVE!

This was an intriguing story with an unexpected twist and perspective shift! The book was paced well/fast, and I enjoyed the read. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes mystery, suspense, and drama wrapped into one narrative.

Book Review - Fast-Paced and Suspenseful
Perfectly delivered! - paperback cover For me, it’s a solid 4.5 stars! I loved the ease of reading, particularly how Freida skips lengthy descriptions and dives straight into the story, maintaining a constant sense of suspense. Each page kept me eager for more, helped by the short, concise chapters. However, I couldn’t give it a full 5 stars because, while the ending was satisfying and the plot overall was quite unexpected, there were a few moments where I could predict what was coming. These subtle instances left me feeling a bit unsurprised, which I find disappointing in thrillers. Despite this, it was an engaging and enjoyable read!

The housemaid
I was SO surprised by how much I loved The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. Full disclosure: I guessed a lot of the twists pretty early. But did that ruin it? Not even a little. This book is still FAST, twisty, and ridiculously addictive. Every day she cleans the Winchesters' house, endures Nina's mind games, and watches Andrew's quiet pain — all while locked in an attic room from the outside. The setup alone had me hooked. Even when I saw some reveals coming, watching them play out was so satisfying. Freida McFadden's pacing is ruthless and the tension never lets up. Nina is infuriating, Andrew is heartbreaking, and our housemaid? That "the Winchesters don't know what I'm capable of" line gave me chills even when I thought I knew what was next. The payoff is still delicious. I tore through this in one sitting and had a blast the whole time. Sometimes it's not about being shocked - it's about the ride. And this ride? 5 stars. If you love domestic thrillers with toxic vibes, unreliable narrators, and twists you can either gasp at OR smugly nod along to, read The Housemaid. Guessing it doesn't make it less fun
