5 Stars — Effective and Easy-to-Use Pool pH Reducer This Clorox Pool&Spa pH Down worked exactly as expected and helped bring my pool water back into balance quickly. My pH had drifted higher than recommended, and after following the dosage instructions, I noticed improvement within a short amount of time. The water looked clearer, and it felt much more comfortable for swimming afterward. The granules dissolved well when added properly, and the packaging was sturdy and easy to reseal between uses. Cheaper than any store, with free Amazon Prime shipping. Easy to store, easy to deploy, bag reseals (though you'd have to have a tiny pool to not use the whole bag). Gets the job done. Pre-mix with water if you want; I just slowly pour across the deep end of my pool and it quickly dissolves straight from the bag. Beats having bottle of dangerous acid.

This stuff works great! Went from 8.3ph to 7.7ph in a matter of days. Depending on the size of your pool, you may need more of it than you think. I initially put one bag in over 24 hours in an 18,000 gallon salt pool and needed half of another bag to get it the proper level. I think adding a cup or so each week will prevent the pH from spiking.

Lowers Ph, but corrodes metal parts in above ground salt water pools and the chlorinator plates. A lot easier and safer to use than muriatic acid but it comes with the downside of corrosion.
