Great rack, can't believe I waited so long to get it!
This is a fantastic bit of kit. It has clearly written, easy to understand assembly instructions, it comes with the tools needed for assembly, and even has a few spare washers and bolts. It took about less than an hour to set up. It is sturdy enough for a rack mounted server or two and some networking gear with a UPS. They even include cage nuts and screws so it's possible to start populating the rack immediately. It's got 42U of rack space, all clearly labeled, making it a breeze to fit gear as needed. Startech also includes cable management, so you you can keep the rack organized when you need it.In terms of looks, it's pretty standard, with a nice finish that does not feel thin or cheap. I'm using this in my home lab, and it really helped me organize my rack gear and get it all installed without much of a fight or hassle.Does require a two person lift - sure you can show off and lift it alone, however it's just ungainly and not balanced well in the package, so you're just better off with a two person lift and move.

Awesome Server Rack for an fantastic price
This rack really impressed me. I didn't have any issues with the packaging and all the parts arrived as expected. The box it came in was pretty thin for how rough and sturdy the metal parts are but in my case it was fine.Assembly was a little difficult because the instructions it came with had images that were kind of hard to see so I just relied on the product images on amazon. There is a part when you have to screw together 3 different metal pieces so the order could be important. It includes tools (actually good quality) to help install however I still needed a wrench to tighten the screws on the wheels which was a bummer.Over all the assembled rack is SOLID. I have a slight warp to it though where my Rack Mac Pro 2019 won't click both sides of the locking mechanism. I have to push the right side in to make it click. Pretty minor honestly and probably easily fixable if I loosen some screws and retighten them.Overall I love this rack. The included tools were great but they need to include something to be able to screw on the wheels because the nut and bolt just spin without holding both sides. The Rack is super sturdy and I have no doubt my Rack Mac Pro, UPS/backup power, and networking equipment won't be going anywhere. I love that It's adjustable.

My first rack and I'm very pleased with it
This product is my first entry into the journey of rackmounting computer/networking gear, so please keep in mind that my experience is limited. It came in a long, almost flat package, which was slightly damaged on the outside, but all the content was unharmed. Each of the various bars was packed in its own bubble wrap, which I appreciated.Assembly was reasonably smooth, the only challenge was that initially it was a bit hard to get the screw to catch, when I tried to connect the first three bars together. You have to align them really well go get that. It would have been a little easier, if the screws would have been a millimeter or two longer. However once you have connected the first few parts, this will no longer be a problem (since they guide any new bar that you attach into proper alignment). They suggest that you assemble this with two people and I was glad that I had someone to help. There is an assembly video on the company's website, but note that in that video they attach the casters before the leveling feet. However the instruction manual tells you to attach the leveling feet first and I think that this is the way to you. Most assembly tools are included, but if the leveling feet won't go in by hand, you may need a 14mm wrench (or an adjustable one) to apply more torque. That wasn't a problem for my rack though, I could just screw them in by hand.I am very please with the final result, the rack looks clean and sturdy. I'm also glad that they provided plenty of cage nuts and screws, though I am using Rackstuds (the red ones) for some of my lighter gear. All in all this is a product that I can heartily recommend, if you're in the market for an open rack.

Very nice design, sturdy and high quality workmanship.
I had been considering the 8U version of this same rack for quite some time, but when Prime day rolled around, this 12U unit was actually on sale for less than the 8U rack. So I took the plunge because I needed a place to set up a renewed Dell R710 server. It comes with a lot of nice extras that show StarTech has put more effort into its units than most of the knock-offs. It's made of very sturdy, powder coated steel. I really appreciate that it came with *all* of the tools that you will need to put it together -- including 2 wrenches and a Philips screwdriver. The instructions are well written and come in a nice little plastic pouch should you need them again. More than enough hardware included as well.Be sure to measure your server before putting this together. I ended up going about six inches longer because of the measurements listed in the manual. Measure the mounting hardware of your server and make sure you get within a few inches of the fully-expanded rack-mounting. It wasn't too tough to adjust the size, though. It works well with a Dell R710 server (see photo) and I plan to add beneath and possibly a fan/power-strip. It's supposed to be able to hold 1200 pounds and that's probably true. I'm not sure how easy it would be to move with that much weight. It's pretty hefty and the addition of a huge server makes it tough enough to move already. But it's not made to be mobile all the time. It's a good way to get things set up and put it in a cool closet when you are done.I'm happy with this and I'd definitely buy from StarTech again. The quality is much better than what I expected. Solid 5 stars.
