Yellow Jacket 93600 Bullet Single Phase Vacuum Pump, 7 Cfm, 115V, 60 Hz

Was new to HVAC, so scoured reddit and other forums for vacuum pump recommendations. This was the #1 recommended vacuum pump, before Fieldpiece and all the others came out with those boxy pumps with the easy oil change. At the time of purchase, this was also the highest CFM per dollar I could find in such a highly recommended brand. It is not the lightest, but is relatively quiet and serves the purpose quite well. Suction is good enough to take a 3 ton system to around 100 microns, possibly lower given ample time and good enough valve caps and fittings. It has a single 1/4" inlet for standard vacuum hose and two 3/8" inlets for the fancy larger evacuation hoses. The only thing I don't particularly care for is that there is no built in protection to keep oil from sucking up through the inlet when you turn the pump off. Granted, that's a mistake the average idiot like myself will only make once, but still. Make sure to use shutoff valves to keep from sucking oil into your installation.

This exploded oil out of the top when turned on and now it doesn’t work at all. Less than 2 months of use. Not worth the money at all.

Pulls down to 4 microns with fresh oil in a couple of minutes consistently. Received the Bullet X, not the Bullet as illustrated on Amazon. (that's not a complaint) Operates best with oil at upper limit. Have pulled down mini split whole systems that have had serious moisture problems and compressor burnout to 160 - 170 microns, rose to 190 microns after 10 minute standing vacuum test using a custom copper tubing "vacuum hose". (3/8" off the pump intake, 1/4" off the valve remover tool, and 1 1/8" x 18" in between for max conductance speed. 24 microns for vac rig. Jim Bergmann Best Practices mentions using copper in his informative TruBlu infomercial) Only Complaint: Yellow Jacket marketing material shows vacuum pumps without caps on the intake. The caps provided are plastic with irritating plastic straps that twist up unless you use 2 hands. I will have to buy some brass CPS ones to replace them. In case some one from Yellow Jacket reads this: Please provide brass caps with chains that can be removed or put on with one hand on your vacuum pumps!

Quiet and quick. I’m very impressed on this pump’s performance. Sure we could always want a faster vacuum pull down but for what this baby cost it does a very good job. Remember to use larger diameter hoses and keep your connections and fittings a minimum. Good luck
