Gets corrupted too fast
2tb is better and reliable. The 4tb gets corrupted very fast.

Possibly damaged during delivery
I received the HDD but it didn’t work. I tested it with four different SATA cables and on different ports. I even tested two other HDDs on the same setup and they worked fine. This one didn’t show up at all. It might be a connection defect, but I’m not sure. I requested a return.

Not recommended, abnormal mechanical sounds
Packaging was just bubble wrap (maybe damaged or dropped in delivery?) and HDD is making abnormal mechanical sounds like head hitting, ordered CMR 8TB another HDD to replace, I cannot trust this HDD to keep my data

Product arrived in bubble wrap and not in a new box
I bought three 8TB hard drives, one was working and two were faulty and not working. The devices did not arrive in original packing and were in bubbles wrap. I tested them on more than one device to confirm if my device was the issue but with no avail, the HDD were failing and not responding

Beaware
First of all this item comes in plastic bag with no protection at all !! Second thing this HDD is not working at all. I wish that I returned before the return expires.

Working very well in my custom designed CCTV hybrid DVR. Review of Seagate Skyhawk 4TB ST4000VX016. Yes its a bit noisy seeking, but mine is in a cabinet in the garage so I don't mind at all, it might be a shade annoying in a quiet environment though. Performance is excellent, it holds up a constant fairly high record rate with easy, all the streams are smooth. Whilst also giving me really quick seeking and replay at the same time, the system just feels smoother and snappier. Beware, there is another version around that is a tiny bit cheaper, the ST4000VXZ16 - note the 'Z' in the code, it has only a quarter of the cache of this version and other changes. For a couple of quid more, this one (without the 'Z') is the one you want. To early to tell on life expectancy, these things do have a really hard life in this application so you have to be a bit realistic.
