Watchmen: The Deluxe Edition

So if you have not read this graphic novel before I highly suggest you do so as fast as possible! This book is written by the goat of the comic book industry! This is Alan Moore’s Swan song, and probably his greatest masterpiece! On the cover of this book, it says New York Times bestseller, and one of Time magazines, best novels of all time, and I could not agree with this comment more than I do already This is not just a graphic novel. This is a masterpiece of storytelling and I can see why this Novel has been studied, dissected and taught at the college level in writing classes, all across the planet for decades I have read Countless works of fiction and this Is the crème de la crème I would say this is easily in the top 10 of all published fictional writing in the last 100 years if not the last 200 years The storytelling in this novel is so layered you can read this thing two dozen times and still not get everything out of it that the author and artist wanted you to get and that’s what has made this thing such an endearing novel for over 40 years This is a Masterpiece of Fictional writing/storytelling And it should not be missed because it is in the category of a graphic novel and has pretty pictures inside of it. (which are also absolutely stunning and amazing) The writer, Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons were working on a total different level when they created this masterpiece years and years ago! I cannot recommend this book more than I already am and if you pick it up, I hope you enjoy the ride and once you are finished reading it once or twice then I recommend going online and browsing the Internet for all of the secret hidden things you have missed that are buried so deep inside of this novel!

It's rare that a graphic novel lives up to its hype and Alan Moore's best ever work certainly fits the bill fully deserving of its spot among Time magazine's best novels of all time. For me this and Frank Miller's "Dark Knight Returns" are the best graphic novels ever written with Spiegelman's "Maus", Moore's own "V For Vendetta" and Gaiman's "Sandman" series following one tier below. The movie doesn't come even close to being as good as its source material and I strongly recommend reading this to get the full story that the movie just doesn't do justice to. There have been some nice follow ups to this story such as the very good Darwyn Cooke "Before Watchmen: Minutemen & Silk Spectre" and the promising Geoff Johns' "Doomsday Clock" series that's currently unwinding but this here is the one any self-respecting adult comic fan has got to have in their collection. The Deluxe Edition has been very well done with the larger pages and the surprisingly very well done binding for a DC book. The dust cover is beautiful and so is the actual hardcover design and the binding is sewn making it easy to stay open from the very first page on a flat surface with no gutter loss at all. The story is a true classic that rewards repeated reading and I find something new at each read. Moore's story is fabulous and so is Dave Gibbons' artwork making this possibly the best ever writer/artist pairing in graphic novel history and this Deluxe Edition is the best version of this iconic story this is currently out there. Very, very highly recommended!

One of the best books you could ever read and appreciate the illustrations that will make you want to enter into the world that is comics. Completely worth reading if you are interested in a unique take on superhero/vigilante stories. I find it even more interesting it takes real world events and twists them to fit the narrative of the characters better.

I really like the story and I really enjoyed the movie as well. So I wanted the book to go with it.

J'ai choisi la version reliée et je ne regrette pas, c'est un très bel ouvrage. SI je devais trouver un défaut au ce serait le papier qui est très fin. Toutefois l'impression est de bonne qualité. Envoi très rapide et bien emballé, je recommande!

Un classico tra le grafic novel americane con una storia veramente ben scritta e disegni molto old-fashioned. Per gli amanti del genere dei super eroi DC è un libro da non perdere. Prendete la versione in lingua originale solo se siete abbastanza sicuri con l'inglese, perché il testo è abbondante e nelle vignette c'è il classico slang americano. Il libro è molto curato, sia nella carta sia nella qualità della stampa e la rilegatura della copertina è realizzata in maniera perfetta. Per me è stata un'ottima lettura.
