In Dual Survival, the survivalists are dropped into a scenario that could happen to anyone: marooned boaters, lost hikers, stranded mountain climbers. Equipped with minimal gear that would have been carried in the real-life situations, Dave Canterbury and Cody Lundin must draw upon their arsenal of skills to devise extraordinary ways to use what they can find in their surroundings, as well as ordinary objects, and demonstrate what it takes to stay alive. How will they use a 35mm camera, condoms and a pack of cigarettes in the Laos jungle? Or a car battery, electrical wiring, tires and seat cushions from a broken-down car in Peru? Bonus Features: -Deleted Scenes Review: Great DVD, Great Program! - I am a big fan of Les Stroud and Bear Grylls, I've watched their material over and over, but there is something special about Dual Survival. Almost everyday I will watch something from these DVDs. Man vs. Wild presents techniques for basic survival as well as advanced and extreme methods, Les Stroud wove the drama of his one-man production into his edu-tainment, but in Dual Survival a lot of quality, pragmatic survival techniques are presented from two distinct and sometimes opposing perspectives. It creates a nice tension arc in the structure of the show. Along with learning how to survive, another aspect of the genre I enjoy is the outdoor and wildlife photography. Les Stroud hit the nicest notes in his shows in regards to this, including his oft-repeated hunting disclaimer that, he respected natural life and it wasn't to be taken lightly; the hosts of Dual Survival, particuarly Cody Lundin, also admirably emphasize conservation of natural resources. All of the various hosts are great at what they do and knowledgeable, but I would point out that Cody and Dave are American archetypes, and that is probably why I love their show the most. I miss the photography emphasis that LS had, but DS isn't shabby in this regard, it just doesn't seem to be a major concern of the editors. If I had to fault the show, I would say they could improve with better music. Hopefully subsequent seasons will have DVD releases (please!) as I do not use streaming formats. Thanks to the producers, cast and crew for creating a great show that I would choose over 99% of the rest of the programming out there. Review: Love Cody Lundin - Awesome show about 2 guys put in scenarios to use their shared knowledge to find rescue.

I would highly recommend this product to others!
We were very impressed with this product! The quality was excellent! This is one of my husband's favorite shows and it is very hard for him to get away from the T.V. when watching it! It definately keeps your attention and makes you want to keep watching more and more!! It's so exciting getting to watch the different places in the world that Dave and Cody try to survive in. It keeps you wandering where they will be next in the show. There really isn't anything I disliked about the product. It's very interesting. It teaches about surviving in some of the most dangerous places in the world. I would very much recommend this product to others who want to start watching a very good, interesting show that you won't want to miss each week!

Quality Show
Dave and Cody's personalities really do make this show feel epic. The ways in which they work together to overcome challenges, as well as listening to their down-to-earth bantering towards eachother make this show feel very real and engaging. There is a camera crew that films the shows, and I don't know what happens behind the scenes, but regardless, this is still a fantastic, quality TV series. The conversations are very organic and unrehearsed, pacing is natural, and both guys are very knowledgeable in their own subject areas. Compared to the other big name survival shows out there (i.e. Man vs Wild, and Survivorman), this one reigns king in my book. In fact, this is the only TV show I have ever bothered to buy season DVD's for. It is that good.

Interesting
The Scenery is awesome. Even though DaveCanterbury was at some point found out to be a big phony, the show hold your interest. Cody is quite the opposite of Canterbury, and that's the secret of the show. Opposite attract. Plus, one can learn to deal with adversity. They can learn to solve problems with what they have at hand. Even though you know thare is a camera crew close by, the show holds your interest.

Dual Survival
In this series, Cody Lundin and Dave Canterbury, as did Les Stroud in Survivorman, and Mykel Hawke and Ruth England in Man, Woman, Wild, show how to survive a wilderness adventure gone wrong. As in Man, Woman, Wild, they have at least one cameraman with them. Canterbury is ex-military, seeking to control and master his environment; Lundin is more about harmony with nature. The differences in personality and survival skills of the two men make this unlike either of the other two Discovery series on survival. Conflicts sometimes arise from these differences. Each of these three survival series has their own kind of interest, and I enjoy Lundin and Canterbury's company. Their care for one another shows, each in their own way. As I said about Man, Woman, Wild: if you liked Surviorman, you'll like Dual Survival. I own them all, and am glad of it.

Great show, especially the first two seasons
Great show, especially the first two seasons. Cody and Dave did a much better job working together, and showed a lot more about how they did things as well as why. Seasons after are good, but Discovery Channel started to focus more on interpersonal conflict rather than the acts of survival methods. Ultimately leading to Cody and Joe blowing up with each other. Unfortunately Discovery Channel did Cody a huge disservice (quite probably slander ) by editing film to make Cody look irrational and unwilling to get along with Joe. Further research into the matter is necessary to get the real story. Needless to say Cody made the show and was quite skilled at survival skills and their teaching. Show definitely went to he'll after he left.

Cody and Dave are a must to watch
I loved the first season so much, I bought the second. Cody and Dave put their butts on the line to show you what you need to know to better your chances of survival. They make you think about what you need to take with you when you are in the outdoors. Highly recommend Dual Survival.
