I'd imagine these are much lighter than standard asaltos. Is that a problem?

No, it's not a problem. My husband is the asalto player. The cork ones are not his favorite, but they do have a nice sound.

I'm confused by the size options. Is that the diameter of the ball? If so, I have small hands then the smallest size is best?

These are not fully silent, however they are not as loud as traditional asalato designs. They are substantially more quiet and do not have a piercing crack or snap sound that tends to travel through rooms as traditional asalato do. They are intended for practice use. The beads inside have a slightly higher timbre than I expected, and that is where most of the sound comes from over the clacking together of the cork shells. I recommend this product as a practice alternative. Perhaps if you could shut yourself in a room or be on another floor of the house, etc then these would be a good "silent" pair of asalato. Agradables al tacto

Justo lo que pedí, exactamente iguales a los de la foto, muy ligeros con respecto a lo que estoy acostumbrada, pero de tacto muy agradable y excelente manufactura. Se tardo mas de lo esperado en llegar por algún problema con la paquetería, pero llegaron aun en un tiempo razonable.

The best practice asalatos! My 15 yo beginner can’t stop playing in the car and they don’t bother me a bit. It’s about as loud as them gently shaking water bottles. It’s actually rather soothing to hear. Also, DO watch the seller’s amazing YouTube videos. We did follow the steps and replaced the ropes to his favorite colors. Easy instructions!

Beautifully made Asalato with a soft sound.

The cord is sturdy and flexible, clearly with made with quality materials. Appears to be durable and well-crafted. However, the asalato is not silent as the description provides and the clacking sound of the two gourds slapping together is still clearly audible (unfortunately for those nearby!). A great product nonetheless that realistically emulates asalatos made with traditional materials!
