Is lens threaded to accept filters and if so what size filter can be used?

Yes, the lens on the Minolta Pro Shot IS threaded to accept filters. The filter diameter is 49 mm. A UV/Haze filter, or Skylight filter is a great "insurance policy" for any camera lens. It takes all the "hits" from blowing sand, rain, oily fingers, objects dropped on the glass lens, etc. The filter can easily be cleaned, or cheaply replaced (not so, the original lens). A UV/Haze or Skylight filter will optimize the image, without adding colors. I put a 49 mm UV/Haze filter on my Minolta Pro Shot. DWD 08-29-2021

Can you remove the battery from this camera?

Yes. It is inside a door on the bottom of the camera and pops right out.
