Premature review just received today. First impressions are it feels nice with all cards tight. I am desking it so I do wish there was a longer cable option but the cable does feel nice and securely clicks in the port. Used it with the m4 Mac mini, and gaming pc. Both worked great. Only issue I had is I am using a gaming wireless keyboard with a lightspeed dongle instead of Bluetooth on the Mac mini front port. When the reader is plugged into the port next to the dongle my keyboard stops functioning. After research I found it is a common Mac issue and the fix was to plug the reader and dongle on opposite sides of the Mac. Plugged the reader in the back with my two externals and left the dongle in the front now works perfectly. I can’t speak for longevity but I will update this if there are any unforeseen issues later on.

I was at a weeklong shoot in the middle of the woods when my card reader started acting up. No problem, I've got a spare. But as it happens, the USB-C adapter on that old reader disconnects it anytime you move it at all. I'm many miles from the nearest camera store. I've sunk thousands of dollars into a camera, lenses and computer, but my ability to show my work to the clients now hinges on failing gear that cost <$20. (In the tech world, this is what we call a single point of failure, which is why I had 2 readers. It's also why my camera writes all images to both cards.) As soon as I got home, I ordered two readers from Amazon, this one and another that had a cheap, light plastic case. Sent the other one back and ordered a second Unitek. No adapter here. It's got a USB-C connector. It transfers the files quickly. It's got a tough aluminum case that leads me to believe it's going to last a while. And because stuff happens, now I've got two of them.

Works great, but I really wish it wasn’t hardwired. I’d much rather it have a usb c port on the back that way you can plug in a usb c to c or usb c to a. I only choose this one because it has the cable on the back, and it doesn’t have slots on the side of it like some other adapters do simply because I have it mounted on my desk. The hard wired usb c port made it inconvenient for me because I had to order an adapter cable from female c to male a that extended it so I could plug it in. Having it not be hardwired would just be infinitely more convenient.

Served its purpose gloriously!

Works great! Just used it to get 1,500 plus photos off my older camera and the quality of the photos is perfect, I had bought a different one and when it transferred the photos it ruined them and took ages, this one does not took no longer than 10 minutes and the quality is still amazing! Would recommend and buy again if needed!

Below is my original review. The tech support by the Unitek people was fast and very good. In the end, I "solved" my problem by installing software to monitor USB messages. Under scrutiny, everything behaves. So, for now, that solves the problem. The real problem would have to be diagnosed with sniffer hardware and will likely be a driver (operating system) issue. ====== I expected to be able to write data with this interface, too. No go: # mount -orw /dev/sdg1 /mnt/usb-disk FUSE exfat 1.2.8 WARN: '/dev/sdg1' is write-protected, mounting read-only. when the card is put into another reader, no problem.

Good, fast and reliable transfers

works well BUT none of the 3 ends you proposed would do, so I had to hunt down the right one to finally be able to hook it up. CUSRTOMERS BE CAREFUL, IT TOOK ME 3 DIFF. PLACES TO FIND AN ADAPTER.

I do a bit of photo and video as a hobby and this is a very hand little gadget, plugs directly into Mac mini and works well. Build quality is good and speed is fine even with footage from 360 camera.
