Anchor Hocking 8-oz Heavy Base Rocks Old Fashioned Whiskey Glasses, Set of 12

I love these glasses. I reordered more in all the sizes, they are top quality heady duty glass, perfectly for entertaining and fancy serving but tough for daily use, they do not scratch or fade from dishwasher, they do not easily break, they fit so perfectly in cabinets and look lovely on shelves. I hope they get more of the 15 oz, as I came back to order a full set for my mother as well and I noticed the larger ones were out of stock.

Up-Date, I have now had these Glasses for almost 8 months..I have to say one glass hit the side of my granite counter, and fell , and broke. Other then that, Not one other glass has broke,or chipped.. I have bought 12 for one of my Grandkids. They love them, and they have not broke also. I love these glasses, and they still look like brand new, and I use them everyday. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have not found a problem with these glasses , as some others have! Although I have not had them for long. I put them in the dishwasher, and they came out looking fine. Before I start my dishwasher, I turn my hot water on, so the hot water goes right in, Nothing cracked or broken. I also like that there not as wide as my other everyday glasses I have, so I can fit more of these in my dishwasher on the top rack. There modern looking straight from top to bottom, and heavier at the bottom. They do not tip over. There a clear glass. $21.00 including shipping for 12 Anchor Hocking glasses made in the USA is a great deal. I see other sellers are charging more money.. Some people took off stars cause there was bar codes stickers on the bottom of each glass!! No big deal. It does not take away the quality from these glasses. After you peel off the stickers, use a little Alcohol on a cotton ball, and it takes off any residue , there is no problem..Its only a one time thing, It seemed that people that bought these glasses a few years ago, had a problem with the way they where package, and got broken glasses! Mine came packaged VERY Good. No broken glasses.. If these start to crack or break in my dishwasher, I will be back to give a update.

It's hard to understand all the fussing and whining about these glasses. Hey, we're not talking Waterford crystal here. These are very basic everyday drinking glasses. They are exactly the size and shape I wanted, perfect for a highball or iced tea. Straight-sided, heavy enough at the bottom, appear to be sturdy enough for normal use. I kept expecting them to explode into fragments in my hand, after reading all the terrible reviews. I really don't think they're fragile; they're kind of thick. If anything, they are probably sturdier than they need to be. I think I have a glass fetish. My husband and I used to buy dozens of glasses at factory outlet stores. I have many more than I need - some delicate, some plebeian, like these. I took out 4 of these for immediate use, the rest will stay in the box for future needs. I almost forgot to say that the sticky labels on the bottom of the glasses peeled off easily and left no residue.

Early reviews of the delicacy of these glasses have, apparently, been overtaken by events. The glasses I received are not delicate. They will not break with a mere glance. They are a good design, with the advertised heavy bottom. I will say there are two things with these glasses that may give you pause. First, you will see bubbles in the glass, both in the base and in the walls. They are small, especially in the glass walls, but in the base there are a couple that are noticeable. Second, the walls of the glasses have some ridged imperfections. By that I mean you can feel some texture from what I suppose are the machining marks or something. But all that said, these are not intended to be fancy crystal or anything. They are everyday drinking glasses, made in a generic enough way that they will fit on every table and every kitchen. They hold a decent enough serving where you aren't getting up every five minutes for a refill. In terms of packing and shipping, I received these in good order - the box was well packed, with glasses in individual slots in the carton, and the entire carton encased in bubble wrap. No glasses were cracked, let alone broken. So for an everyday glass, you could do a LOT worse than these. I think they are a good value.

MADE IN USA. We love supporting American products and the quality of these glasses do not disappoint. I find myself reaching for these regularly. They are a bit smaller in ounce capacity than a different brand I also have on our shelf, but I find myself liking these more and more, choosing these over the other ones. They have a firm base and are a strong glass. With lots of hosting of family and friend gatherings, we have not broken a single glass yet. They are simple and lovely in design and match any table setting. They wash well in the dishwasher and have become a staple in our home. I would purchase these again.

I received my glasses today. No cracks, no brakes during shipping. They are well made. Sturdy but not to thick. I have found some bubbles. For years I have bought the same glass design. Simple and elegant! But after a couple of years they began to cloud up. I use my dishwasher maybe once a month just to keep it going. So I know that's not the problem. I'm even careful with what detergent I buy. Still cloudy after about a year. So I opted for made in the USA. We generally try to do that anyway. We need to keep our fellow Americans employed. I have several baking dishes by Anchor Shocking and have never had a problem with them. They are a little smaller than the previously purchased glassware but, if it doesn't cloud up. Well I'll get used to it. Ill update at a later date.

I wish Amazon required sellers to state when they are selling seconds/irregulars, instead of passing things off as first quality products that just happen to be at a good price. I've had a set of these for years (not sure of the original manufacturer) and love them. Beautiful, smooth, uniform--I love the weight, shape and size. Many have broken, so it was time to get more. The ones that arrived are quite irregular: wavy glass with occasional ridges or bumps--more noticeable to the hand than eye, though not entirely--not perfectly cylindrical, uneven bottoms inside, no two quite alike. If you like the organic, hand blown glass aesthetic, these will be fine and are a great price (though I do wonder about the durability of the warped glass). If you are expecting high quality, uniform, factory first runs, you will want to send them back.

These glasses are wonderful. They are durable, dishwasher safe, tall, and pretty wide too. A great multi-purpose glass, for water, juice, mixed drinks, whatever you want. Would definitely buy again!

I was very impressed with the look and feel of these glasses. For the cost, I expected them to be a little ‘cheaper’ looking, and feeling. They are well worth the money and they look great too!
