If there's one thing I love, it's a functional item that makes my life easier. I hate going around the house twice a year at Daylight Savings time to adjust clocks. This eliminates that! This one is easier than other atomic clocks I've had as well. I just inserted a AA battery, and a few minutes later the clock was synced to the exact time down to the second! What could be easier? It is the perfect size for my kitchen, and is very light so mounting was easy. The large numbers and split hands are both stylish and easy to see. In all, a great value!

... as I thought it might turn out to be for the first hour out of the box. It came with no instructions and since I don't live in North America, the automatic setting feature did not work. My bad for buying the clock without reading the product description carefully. I was also disappointed that the glass seems "smokey" and dimmed the clock face to light gray, not pure white as in the product photo. It is also not silent. I makes a faint ticking noise, which I decided wouldn't be unbearable. I wanted to like this clock, because it was easy to read from a distance and was well designed. It was only after searching online for instructions on how to set it manually that the fun began. Nothing I did seemed to work. But just when I thought the clock was a bomb, I put ChatGPT on the job and got it working. Perfectly. So for those of you who may have also bought the clock but don't live in North America, and who, like me, received no instructions for manual setting for the particular model I received from Amazon, here they are: Manual Setting Steps (SET / WAVE / RESET model) Start Fresh Remove the AA battery for at least 10 seconds. Have a reliable time source ready (phone clock, time.is, etc.). Insert Battery Insert one AA battery, matching the + and – markings. The hands will start moving. Enter Manual Time-Set Mode Press and hold the SET button. While holding, the minute hand will move rapidly; the hour hand will follow. Advance to Correct Time Keep holding until the hands reach your local time. Release the SET button when you’re close to the right time. Fine-Tune Seconds (Optional) To align precisely to the top of the minute (:00), release SET exactly when your reference time reaches :00. The second hand starts from zero at that moment. Ignore the WAVE Button if you don't live in North America WAVE = “force radio reception” (atomic sync) — works only in North America. Outside North America, pressing it will just make the clock search for a signal it can’t receive. RESET Button Resets the movement back to its starting point. Useful if the hands get misaligned or the clock behaves oddly. So the bottom line is, I'm glad I persisted in finding out how I could keep this handsome clock. It was worth the effort.

The Sharp "Atomic" clock works as advertised. It receives a time signal via radio from station WWVB at the NIST lab near Fort Collins, CO. A small computer chip in the clock decodes the time signal and uses it to set the hands of the clock. The clock operates silently -- no ticking noise. NIST is the National Institute of Standards and Technology, part of the Commerce Department. The user guide for the clock says that I might need to try positioning the clock on different walls to properly receive the time signal. This was the case for me -- I had the clock on an east-west wall to begin with, and it did not "sync" that first night. I moved the clock to a north-south wall and the second night it synced successfully. When I looked at it the next morning it was displaying the correct time to the second. The user guide also says that signal reception is best at night and that it might not receive a signal during the day. I found this to be the case, too -- the clock did not sync during the daytime. Note that this clock model supports only the four main US time zones: Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific. You set a selector switch in the clock to one of these zones. You also set a switch to tell it to adjust for US Daylight Saving Time or not, depending on your area. If you can't describe your location using these two switches, the clock won't display the correct time. It's really just for US locations in those four time zones and US Daylight Saving Time rules. I recommend the clock if you are located within the area for which it's designed. I particularly like the silent (non-ticking) feature. That works perfectly, and it's the reason I picked this model instead of one of the others. If a clock's description doesn't specifically say that it operates silently, then it probably isn't silent. There's nothing wrong with ticking, it's entirely a user preference, but I wanted silent operation.

Finally got the clock. was so easy to set up. dropped in battery and 10 mins later the clock showed perfect time. I just noticed that it does not illuminate like in the pic. but that's fine too.

Muy bueno, pero no lo dejen en el sol para cargarlo, el vidrio funciona como un lente y quema el plástico donde vienen los números, ahora mi reloj está todo chueco. En ciudad de México se tardó como 2 días en sincronizarse.
