Fast Boil Kettle - Black- TT - KT847UK

Bought this kettle and toaster lovely design on it worth the money easy to clean and works well plus just looks amazing in my kitchen.

It's light and pours really well. Not as loud as other kettles I've had. I think it's great and would buy it again.

Great Kettle. But can sometimes let out a little steam from the lid when pouring if it is full.

This kettle looks good and boils the water just as you would expect. However 9 times out of 10 the lid leaks boiling steam when you pour, and this hits your hand. I thought maybe it’s just my particular kettle but other reviews show the same problem. It’s not worth it for a kettle that keeps trying to burn you!

MANUFACTURE & OUTER SURFACE: I was disappointed when I compared the location of maker T4tec (Walsall, West Midlands) and the big flag-waving "British Made Design" label, with the discreet "Made in P.R.C." lettering also on the box (which means 'made in China'). I was less worried about the misleading claim of "stainless steel" in the specifications list, for a kettle that actually turned out to have a plastic material for the main black outer sheath. Though I did wonder if this actually makes it a bit safer, or safer than having hot steel on the exterior. There is actually a hunk of stainless steel, but it's hidden, being the heating plate element. FAST BOIL TIME: I tested it and had 3 minutes and 25 seconds to boil exactly 1.7 litres (three pints) of water at mid-afternoon on a cold March day (i.e. kettle was cold, but not 'first thing in the morning cold'). Thus, the Fast Boil is in operation. That's a good time, compared to my old kettle of the same 'pyramid like' design. 'Fast boil' could save you 15-20 minutes a day! And Which! tests suggests that it can actually save energy in the long-run, compared to a normal old kettle. This may not prevent the EU from banning fast-boil kettles eventually, but it's nice to know. SHUTOFF: Shutoff is automatic (my great grandpa invented that bit), and also audible. So even if the kettle is behind you and you're away in an armchair, you can hear when it goes off. In a darker environment there's also the light signal. NOISE: In terms of noise, this kettle is far less noisy than my old one. Partly this is because it's new and hasn't yet had limescale build-up. The interior boil plate is currently clean stainless steel, but will doubtless reduce in effectiveness over time due to limescale. But I also wonder if the outer casing isn't able to absorb or baffle some of the noise. Better than metal might? POWER-BASE: The electrical cable length can be adjusted by being coiled inside, and coiling may also help to damp noise and vibration. The kettle still wobbles a little bit on the base, if not fully filled, and you may need to turn base/kettle around until be more stable combination is found. The kettle came with a standard UK plug and 13A fuse. FILL-LEVEL AND POURING: Thermal expansion of the water then pushed the water-level above the 1.7 mark, so underfill rather than overfill - to prevent 'glooping' of water when pouring from a very full kettle. Spout and pouring action are fine, so long as the kettle is not at max. or overfilled. Possibly it's best to keep it below 1.5 litres as your 'usual fill'. FILLING FROM THE TAP: With my tap it can quickly fill via the spout without any burbling or spluttering, which is very good. Though obviously that's going to damage the spout-flow over time, as the lip becomes worn and chipped from much swinging contact with the hard metal tap. The proper filling-lid is easy to detach, and has a clip-action for secure attachment. HANDLE: Design-wise and ergonomically the easy-grasp handle is great, but you have to wonder how long it's going to last. At one end it seems to be clipped in rather than screwed in. If the handle becomes a little looser, as they do over time, or plastic clips crack through constant thermal expansion/contraction, there would be not much that could be done about it. WATER-GAUGE: The water-level gauge sits only an inch or so above the on/off switch, and this is not ideal. Water-level gauges inevitably start to leak over time on most kettles, and if it did so here then it would dribble directly onto/into the on-off switch. The water-level gauge is not backlit, and with black lettering it's not at all easy to see the markings once the kettle is filled. Overall, I'm pleased, especially at the low price. But I suspect this kettle is going to need some careful handling to last the seven years I had hoped for. It feels more like a kettle you'd have to replace after three or four years.

Nice looking kettle goes well in my kitchen. Good quality looks expensive but was a great price

Good quality and a quick boil. Abit noisier than my other kettle but my other one was a quiet boil. Very pleased with the price
