Deuter Helion 80

Greetings Adventure Luggage buyer!My needs were a big size roller with a sturdy handle that can also be carried as a backpack for short distances. After lots of research and going crazy trying to choose the best bag for extensive use (4-6 trips a year).. I boiled it down to the Osprey Sojourn 28"/80L & the Deuter Helion 80.Considering both were top quality products..well designed, comfortable & sturdy I wanted to get both. What made me buy the Helion was the finer points viz:1) The Deuter had overall larger dimensions, even though both say 80 ltrs, than the Sojourn = more stuffing place/storage (actually I'd have preferred a 90/100L bag but they seem to be virtually non-existent in this hybrid category)2) The fixed padlock anchor on the side of the bag..neat & well thought off.3) Wheels are easily replaceable in case you need too, extendable handle has 2 height adjustments.4) Wheels get covered by the broad hip wings when wearing it like a backpack thus saving your clothes from getting dirty.I've been lugging it around all over south east Asia mainly for work on offshore vessels/barges. So far it has stood up to the test very well & I'd recommend it without second thought.Happy Travels!

I work on conservation projects in the Tropics and so am almost always out on long-haul trips, often to areas where roads are nonexistent. I've used other duffels before and now have this Deuter. It is far and away best bag I've had. Well-constructed, super durable, and the wheels are large enough and sturdy enough to handle back country. The top and two lower handles make it easy to carry up and down stairs or load onto a vehicle. You're not going to take a rolling duffel to do long distance trekking or anything but if you are out in the countryside sometimes rolling is just not an option. Most other quality duffels (Patagonia, etc) don't have backpack straps at all and some that offer straps are not well designed and using them to carry anything more and 20 yards awkward as hell. This is the only bag I've seen that has optional, hidden straps that are actually functional. Kudos do whoever did the design of the thing! It has a waist strap that locks in well and keeps weight where it needs to be.I've not seen any defects yet. As I do long-haul, I could use maybe 5 more liters of space and maybe also a separate compartment for 2nd pair of shoes and whatnot, always a good thing.

I love this suitcase. It's good quality. It has a single access zipper, good wheels and handles. It also has a small front pocket for keys, etc.

I did not have a chance to use it yet, but being frequent traveler ( mostly overseas ) I go thru luggage quite often.From what I see I've got myself a very solid piece of luggage. Right size, sturdy construction and most of all very light. Love it and recommend.

Very durable

Got this bag for my boyfriend when I could no longer find the more practical but sadly discontinued Deuter Xeno. The Helion is a nice size, roomy but not ridiculously large, and it seems very well-engineered. BUT...it is purple. It's supposed to be black and green but in certain light it appears downright grape-purple and bottle green. Not what I wanted, but I am keeping it because I don't think I can return it.

Haven't had the pleasure of traveling with it yet but it appears to be very well made and is light as a feather.

It's tough, i's rough, it's a Deuter

War mit dem Trolley auf Asienreise. Ansich ein guter Begleiter. Viel Platz, viele Fächer, Rucksack -Funktion....ABER Liebe Deuter Leute, für einen Preis von jenseits der 240 Euro billige Rollen anzubauen mit billigsten Kugellagern....Geht GAR nicht! Habe sie gegen Inlineskate Rollen mit ABEC 7 Lagern getauscht . Hat mich nichtmal 10 Euro gekostet, aber es war es wert. Die angebauten Rollen sind hart und laut. So war mein alter Reisetrolley auch....Nur den hab ich 2002 gekauft. Also Fazit: Würde es trotzdem nochmal kaufen, aber eben direkt die Rollen tauschen. Finde es eine Frechheit bei dem Preis billig Rollen zu verwenden.

Hallo,in den vergangenen zwei Monaten bin ich mit dem Deuter Helion 80 verreist gewesen. Die Tasche hat dabei insgesamt einen "guten" Dienst geleistet. Warum nur gut? Zum einen, da die Tasche nicht genügend Wasser abweisend ist und zum anderen, da die verbaute Bodenplatte nicht vollständig durchdacht wurde. Die oberen Ecken sind so verbaut, dass diese den Stoff der Tasche beim Gebrauch mit der Zeit aufreiben. Eine dickere Polsterung an dieser Stelle wäre hilfreich gewesen. Im Vergleich zur Alternative von Osprey hatte ich festgestellt, dass die Tasche mehr Volumen aufnimmt. Bis die Konstruktion verbessert wurde, würde ich vom Deuter jedoch abraten.Ich hoffe, dass Deuter hier schnell eine neue Version auf den Markt bringt. Die Kombination aus Rucksack / Trolley empfinde ich als hervorragend.

Von der ersten Reise zurück und begeistert. Das Material ist einwandfrei, die Verarbeitung top, und er tut genau das was er soll. Nämlich auf Touren die über das normale „Flughafen Hotel und zurück“ hinaus gehen eine Symbiose zwischen Koffer und Rucksack sein. Klar, ein Koffer ist kompfortabeler und ein Rucksack noch besser für Outdoor geeignet. Aber für das Mittelding ist dieser Trolley perfekt und genau das habe ich gesucht. Kritik am Gestänge kann ich nicht nachvollziehen. Sand und verschiebliche Metallteilen vertragen sich nicht. Da kann der Hersteller nix für.

Ich nutze den Koffer jetzt schon seit ein paar Jahren und strapaziere ihn regelmäßig mit Überfüllung. Da man aber den Reißverschluß durch die Gurte entlasten kann, sieht der Trolley immernoch wie neu aus. Die Rollen sind super, selbst Rollsplit konnte ihnen noch nichts anhaben und wenn es mal schneit oder der Weg das hinterherziehen nicht erlaubt, dann nutze ich die Gurte.

Not worth 15 k ..replaced first delivery because the handle was not working..similiar issue with the replacement recieved. Not replacing this one as iam flying out in another 2 days . Suspect the supplier , looks like all they got in stock is defective items...
