Did I need these? Nope. Do they work great? Yup.
I don't want to brag too much, but I have what you could call a plethora of lighters. Too many, my wife might say. Do I have magnesium blocks? Storm-proof and strike anywhere matches? Steel and flint? Several other ferro rods? Yes, yes I do. Do I regularly use any of them? Not really. Have several fire kits though! That being said, this particular rod throws GREAT sparks. Don't lie to yourself. It feels pretty cool when you can start a fire without a lighter or matches, especially in front of someone else. If my kids or their friends or my no-so-outdoorsy friends are around, I break out one of these to get things to get a fire started. Are they kinda impressed? Certainly. Should they be? Absolutely. Why? Because I made magic sparks fly from a metal stick. This would get you burned at the stake a few hundred years ago. Super thick and sturdy, long enough for a good grip. No jokes.

Great big Ferrari rod is a beast
Order the bigger feral rod this thing is a beast metal striker one side throws smaller sparks an the bigger side is a beast of big sparks definitely won't take much to make a fire very nice product works amazing love it will buy another soon

I have a couple of these ferro rods. Sturdy and give off good sparks. They are not very old but so far work good. I like the dimensions of this ferro rod and should function for a long time.

This very useful/ critical life saving tool arrived with all of it's accoutrements in tact. The Striker is in excellent condition and works perfectly. Included also was various ember taking implements. Whether your practicing your solo fire starting skills or perfecting your bug out bag equipment, this 6" Ferro rod will be an essential part of anyone's plan for warmth or for outdoor cooking or camping. Great flint fire starter.
A great set. It only took me three strikes to get a flame, and the first strike was removing the paint, so it really took two! just right for your bug out bag. Five stars.
