Almost, ALMOST too good to be true
As you can probably guess from my tone throughout this review, I found it pretty tough to fault the D-Link DMS-106XT network switch given its price tag and wide variety of network connectivity. There are a few design choices that are going to split opinion (metal throughout, LEDs, very unconventional shape, etc) but these are quite minor points in the grand scheme of things. The Price tag of this switch for a 10GbE and 2.5GbE switch, even unmanaged, is going to make it damn near irresistible to many buyers and now that it has had some time in the market to increase exposure, availability and reviews, the price tag has become increasingly flexible (arriving as low as £130/$140 in some retailers). D-link could stand to be a little clearer about the turbo mode and it’s advantages with the DMS-106XT and the extent to which those LEDs can actually be customized is pretty weak, but you are clearly getting a sturdy, solid and high-performance piece of kit here. Additionally, with the increase of affordability of 10GbE, as well as 2.5GbE becoming the defacto port to be used with WiFi 6 client hardware, this switch has a much wider audience than it might have had just 2 years ago. A great piece of kit and one I heartily recommend.

It runs warm but hasn't let me down yet
Overheating appears to be the bane 2.5G tech today. This switch is somewhat of an exception as while it does run warm when handling long transfers, it's not enough to boil an egg on it. Also, it hasn't throttled or outright failed yet, which I can't say for other 2.5G switches I have suffered, premium or not. Also, it's pretty to look at and keeps all the cables in the back. Can't beat that really.

Quality Control issues
Great product when it works. First one lasted 2 months. Replacement lasted 2 days. Purchased 3 of these and all 3 have gone back as become faulty with no Ethernet connection at all.

Great little switch for home office/media use
Bought this for the QOS ports, I've got my work PC hooked up and it gives me bandwidth priority for Teams calls rather than streaming. I can also transfer files to local storage a lot quicker now.

It does the job
I have 2.5gbit network cards installed so wanted to make use of it. File transfers from my pc to my NAS which both connected to this device I am getting 270MB/s transfer speed and stable.

Powerful switch faster file transfers but needs extra 10Gb port
In 2023 these switches should be standard equipment now, most motherboards come with 2.5Gb ports for Ethernet today. Routers are harder to find with both WAN and LAN at 2.5Gb but the Asus GT-AX6000 is what I have. We have been stuck with 1Gb forever for the home market LAN, I feel the cost for this upgrade is overpriced somewhat for an unmanaged switch but the quality is there (its metal) and your really paying for the design and the 10Gb port. I have the turbo button enabled on mine to prioritize port 1 and 6 traffic as port 1 goes to main PC and port 6 is the 10Gb that goes to the Router. I have a WAN port that does 2.5 as well on the router plus one 2.5 LAN port so its all come together across the network with this switch. Sure you wont see massive increases in internet browsing speed other than stats and anyone who buys it just for that is silly but I got it because I have an older NAS that has bonded ports for 2Gb file sharing, it makes a huge difference in speed. Everything that can be wired through Ethernet is plugged into my switch and router because I hate extra latency that comes with Wi-Fi, no matter how good people say wireless is getting its never better than Ethernet. The 10Gb port is nice but it should have more than one for the future.

Great Switch
It's a switch and it does its job. That isn't enough for a switch hitting this price point. This has a 10G port and 5x 2.5G ports. And, just as importantly, it comes with a switching capacity that can actually accommodate those numbers at full capacity. The front lightbar isn't configurable. It's white when turbo mode is off and rainbow colored when it's on. Speaking of Turbo Mode, what this does is turn on "Priority of Service." If you are running with this setting ON, then Ports #1 and #6 are set as Priority #2 while Port #2 is Priority #2 and the remaining ports are priority 3. Like a poor-mans managed switch. That is important for you when plugging in your cables if you intend to enable turbo mode: Make sure you have the right cables plugged into the right ports. Also, the top LED colors are speed indicators. If you plug into the 10G port and have a white indicator, don't freak out. It's white for 1G, blue for 2.5G and ... bright white for 10G. I spent like an hour testing the various components on my drop to find what was limiting my speed before I found out that "Bright White" indicates 10G. Couldn't they have chosen another color? I digress... For what you get, this is many - many - times better than your granddaddy's desktop switch. It's just icing on the cake that the ports are rear-facing and doesn't look like a metal brick sitting around.
