A bit salty. If you are looking for Vietnamese Nฦฐแปc chแบฅm, you use this (a little of it) and mix with water, sugar, lime, and other ingredients to make the dipping sauce.

I like fish sauce with hot pepper and some lemon squeeze and slice very thin shallot. It is good with rice and fried fish.
