Don’t buy crappy cast tongs broke on second use while holding blade

For under $20, I was fully prepared for these tongs to feel like they had been forged from recycled coat hangers. Thankfully, they are much better than that. They feel solid, the jaws line up nicely, and the steel has enough heft that they do not feel cheap in the hand.The wolf jaw design is especially useful because it gives you a good grip on several different sizes and shapes of stock without constantly reaching for another pair of tongs. The 15 inch size works well and gives me decent distance from the forge, but if I bought them again I would probably go with the 17 inch version for a little more reach. A couple extra inches between my hands and glowing steel sounds like a pretty good investment.Are these the same as a beautifully hand forged pair from an experienced smith? Of course not. For around $18, they are not trying to compete with hand forged tongs, and they really do not need to.For someone getting started, adding another tong style to their collection, or just wanting dependable tongs without torching the tool budget, these are an easy recommendation.
