I've never been so skeptical about a product... or so wrong!
Well, I dit it! I decided to buy this gadget, which looks a little dorky, and sounds like it solves major issues with skimmer weakness. I was sure the only thing missing was "As seen on TV", and that it would end up in the bin, along with Ginzu knives that cut through shoes, and glue the ultimate back scratcher. This product installs in about 5 minutes. Pull out your skimmer, attache the black zip tie looking things, screw on the top piece. Done. 5 minutes. Wait about 30 seconds and... what?? It does exactly as it says. It really makes an incredible difference in my pool. I went from skimming the pool every day by hand to not having to skim it at all. Once in a while, I'll skim a corner or so.. but that's it. An amazing difference! This one is an easy win! Pros: Works exactly as advertised Sucks up all the leaves, bugs, and debris on the surface of your pool The micro-sock thing reveals that it does a much better job than you expected, and that your pool may not have been as clean as you thought before you had this product. Cons: The sock breaks within the first couple of uses Cleaning the basket is a little quirky, but not enough for you NOT to buy this. Go get it now! Tip: Make sure your jets are creating a nice 'circular' motion in your pool so all the debris eventually goes to the skimmer.

Works as Advertised with a wonderful small business backing their Product!
The SkimDoctor 2.0 filter works very well in our pool here in Arizona. Firstly, the small business that operates this company 100% stands behind their product and provides kind, excellent support, so directly contact them if you have any questions/problems. Installation was intuitive, quick and easy (I did not need any directions). People pick on the how the SkimDoctor attaches to the basket, but the design is fine considering that it must generically work with any basket. Weekly, I empty the sock that is full of debris that would otherwise be clogging the main filter. I adjusted the tower to create an optimum flow, and it pulls in all debris - my pool is clean. I read reviews from those that rated this low and think many are unfair. I highly recommend this product and company.

Yes, It does everything advertised but not as spectacularly as advertised.
Yes, It does everything advertised but not as spectacularly as advertised. Yes, It does increase suction power but it doesn't increase flow to the filter or the return lines, as everyone would expect under Bernoulli's principle. Yes, It does pull floating debris from larger distances, and reduces the need of skimming manually with a net. Yes, I was able to reduce pump running time from about 3 hours to 2 hours. Yes, I had problems with the skimmer basket getting dislodged when people swam and yes, Skim doctor adds weight to it and lessens the problem. Yes, It's easier to pull out the basket because you don't have to submerge your hands to take it out, however emptying it is more difficult and rinsing with a hose is almost mandatory. Yes, It is very easy to install, don't overtighten the screw or you will bend the basket's base or even brake it. Why did I gave it 4 stars. Well, I think it's expensive for what it really is, a plastic cylinder (no matter how smart the product is). The other reason is advertising is overoptimistic. Yes, It does everything advertised but not as spectacularly as advertised.

It works, but included hardware is JUNK.
Easy to install and definitely does what it states and really helps increase the skim power at the top of the pool. But it's not what I would call sturdy. The included plastic bolts with rubber stops was a total joke. Really difficult to first install, and once trimmed and setup, its stretched to the point that the basket was just dangling. eventually the rubber stops don't stop or hold anything. We ended up drilling out our basket and getting some 7 inch stainless steel bolts from our local hardware store and with some extra nuts & butterfly nuts at the top we were able to get a much firmer hold with just 2 bolts. the firmer hold also made maintenance a whole lot easier as the sock kind of gets stuck a little when you try and twist it out after it's all dirty. Also, if you using this, get the 50-100 pack of socks. This thing is so good, you will just be throwing away socks every week or so. It's really good at capturing all the junk and the socks get dirty and clogged quick. Easier to just replace the sock than try and clean and re-use. first couple of days we were going through a sock a day.

Excellent in all respects!
This baby changed the entire playing field in regards to my pool and it's upkeep! What a great invention! Immediately saw a difference and the power it creates in my skimmer is almost laughable. In a good way. I am amazed at how much more suction power my skimmer now has and the fact that you can adjust how much power should convince everyone to buy this. Combined with a filter sock, this turbo charger has improved my pool cleanliness and ended my skimming by 99%. I run my pool year round and everyday I am amazed that when I walk out to my pool in the morning, there is absolutely nothing on the surface! The turbo charger has completely sucked the debris off the surface! I used to spend my mornings with coffee and a skimmer pole. Hands down this should be a 'must have' for any pool owner! 5*'s and then some! Easy installation and sturdy. Looks and operates like new 1 year into it.

Works as advertised
Was a little skeptical, but for $50 took the chance . . . This thing works - period. Not sure if the "3x" claim is valid, but no question that the water speed entering the skimmer is significantly increased and skimming effectiveness is markedly improved. The "sock" does not appear to impede water flow and catches a lot of bugs and small debris that would otherwise go into the main filter. I have been messing around for a few months with a new pool to get good circulation and good skimming action. Finally cracked the skimming challenge and now have a clean surface, but it required ALL the return water to go through the skimmer. The Skim Doctor has allowed to me to open the main drain valve part way without losing good skimming capability. Pool circulation is much improved as a result. The product is a little Rube Goldberg in the way that it attaches to the basket, but the fasteners seem secure and the methodology seems to work fine. Overall a happy customer . . .

Great...waste of money. Totally unpractical.
What a disappointment. My basket broke and I was looking for a replacement. This skimmer seemed to be a complete kit. It isn't I ordered it and I was surprised that it didn't come with a basket like on the picture. Reading a bit more, the description says no basket however it also doesn't give you an option to buy one that fit the skimmer. So I bought a basket separately and guess what. The skimmer doesn't fit on it, either with the blue ring or not. Great. I'll try it anyway. The setup itself is cumbersome. The threaded rods are so long that I had to use a drill to screw them into the plastic tip. Manually it would have taken about 10 min each! Sure I could have cut the rods shorter, still not practical as the rods slide down when unscrewed and can get lost in the pool. While everything was set up, there was a gap between the blue ring and the basket which reduces the suction that you can increase or decrease turning the grey inside tubing. Cleaning up is a bear with the long rods. You need a drill to undo them, they fall and you can easily lose one in the water. Also the QC is not great in a way that one of the Philips screw tip wasn't forged properly. I had to use a flat tip to turn it in and out. You cannot empty the basket without removing the assembly. Maybe a twist and pull system would have been better as you don't want to do that every week. The manual is a colored sheet of paper and even following it I had a hard time ot understand how to clip the blue ring together as it is tight fit and I didn't want to break anything. All in all, a fail to my book. I'm just going to use my basket and that's it. Maybe version 3 will be better.... or 4? I really wanted to like it but for the price it should come with a basket and an easy twist and pull top.

Definitly will work to keep your water free from anything floating on the surface
I'll give this 5 stars for function but overall 4 stars because of design. It absolutely does work better than a regular skimmer basket. Regular skimmers seem to only work when your pool water is fairly low allowing increased flow into the basket area. This works like that all the time even when your pool water is high. I just installed mine two days ago with my water level being about one inch below my overflow outlet. Before installation I had ant's, gnat, pollen and other crap floating on the surface. Within an hour of installation of the SkimDoctor it was all gone. When I woke up this morning I had the same type of crap on the surface after the pump was off all night. An hour or less after the pump went on it was all gone. It works as advertised and I think it will do an even faster job if the water is a little lower. I have the adjustable "vent" set on about halfway. This will be a bit of a pain to empty out when full and a hose should help because of the lip on the basket. Don't even think that you will unscrew the two screws every time you clean it. Those long screws have super tiny threads and take about 300 turns to tighten or remove the assembly. Assembly of the basket will take you much, much longer unless you use a cordless drill with a small driver to turn the blue plastic knobs. I'm very pleased with this assuming this contraption doesn't fall apart and the screws don't rust too early on in the game. I will really appreciate this when our Florida gnat season peaks in the summer. My old skimmer was useless unless my pool water was real low.

Works as good as the product described.
Pretty helpful and you can see extremely difference between before and after.

Makes a vortex
It makes a vortex which in turn speeds up intake of water, causing the surface to flow into the skimmer a lot faster, the skimmer at my rental does jack all surface rubbish doesn't flow into it nor does it suck it in. This device (which you can DIY) does as it advertised my pool.. There's a lot of mixed reviews so do your research first. Mine was a last resort attempt and it worked. It is extremely annoying having to screw the top onto the basket as it takes a bit... Just keep that in mind.

Product ok
Works ok but thought would have been a bit better, will give it a bit longer.

Works as advertised
This unit works as advertised. The only challenges relate to emptying the basket as the unit effectively reduced the diameter of the opening and fitting a skimmer sock (where you are largely relegated to using only the Skim Dr units due to the tabs. It really does a great job of skimming the pool
