Blue Shaving Bowl using hot wax resist design

It's a beautiful piece of handcrafted artwork, and very functional. The swirl-ridges on the inside bottom of the bowl help you work up a lather. If you look closely it actually has 7-sides to it, and the inside has a "bumpy" shape to it that also will help your brush do it's work--it's a subtle thing, but it just adds to the fact that this is a very functional piece that goes above and beyond your average shave mug. The tan colored patches on the exterior have a very light sandpaper texture that will make it easy to hold with wet hands, but the bowl itself has a good weight to it, and feels very solid. That means it won't be sliding on your counter if you prefer to build your lather using only one hand, which I appreciate. Do you know what all this means? It means this bowl can do it's job for a lifetime, and it's pretty enough that my woman won't make me replace it with something that has flowers or animals on it! :D I'm very happy I bought it! Regarding shipping, it was very securely packaged with bubble wrap, and placed in a small square box. That box was placed into a shipping box with air pillows to fill all gaps. Well done. Buyers shouldn't worry about breakage unless your delivery guy is just throwing it around (which some do <--don't ask me how I know). A great buy!

This is a gorgeous bowl, and the textured, slightly un-rounded sides make it about as drop proof as a bowl without a handle can be. The interior is also textured, to help lather building, and the volume is adequate. I went with the somewhat larger Handmade Large Blue Pottery Shaving Bowl for Men because it fit my hand pretty well, but even so, it was really a close call. If you want a finely made, sweet looking shaving bowl, either of these JaysClay products is likely to satisfy you.

Excellent shave bowl!! Very well made, makes a great lather, and looks phenomenal. The non-glazed areas provide a solid grip. Very happy with the purchase.

Very nicely made! Slightly larger than I pictured it being but fits in my hand nicely! The attention to detail inside the bowl is neat! I really enjoy handmade items versus store bought stuff! UPS handled my package pretty rough! Thank goodness it had plenty of bubble wrap keeping it safe! The 2 day Prime Delivery was non existent on this order! No idea why Amazon used UPS. I think it was 5-6 days before I got it today. Thank you Jay for a beautiful manly shave bowl!

The soap on the first shaving bowl I bought was almost gone, so I got more. Course, since in was this tiny glass thing that just barely held the brush and razor, I knew there was no way I would get anything in it without cutting it to fit. This one's roomy, and the sides are nice to hold. Haven't tried holding it with damp hands, but the parts without the glaze has a nice roughness to it, so you'd probably have a decent grip on it.

Workmanship is good However, the swirls on inside bottom do not work to hold the soap in place. What it needs are those spikie dimples to hold the soap in place The indentations need to be facing inwards instead of out. When you start the lather, the brush needs to hit the ridges and cause a beating thus producing a much thicker lather

This is a very beautiful bowl, just as described by the seller. The reason I gave 3 stars is because the bowl is a little too deep for the brush that I use and even though I try to prevent the handle my Parker brush from hitting the edge, it does. I fear that the bowl will break so I use it for something other than shaving. Would recommend that the seller make the bowl about 3/4 if an inch shorter,

I love this bowl, bought it 4 years ago from this seller and it still looks and works like it’s bran new. It has great grip on the outside and a wonderful spiral at the bottom to break the large bubbles. Thank you so much for this great bowl. I would say I would buy another but I really don’t think I will have to……lol
