I bought this for my husband from my kids. we have a bunch of nurf guns and they gang up on him. When we opened it and loaded (i didn't read instructions at all) it wasn't working and thought it was broken. I looked at the reviews and saw other people that had the same issue. So I looked up a YouTube video about it and turns out it needs batteries to work! Once add it works too well!

This thing rocks. Surprised my friend son on his 13 birthday by unloading every barrel into him before I handed it off. Great toy

I can’t believe how fun these are. This is a semi automatic gun where one finger pulls the flywheel trigger, and your index finger pulls the trigger whenever you want to shoot one. Three drums of 15 darts each are available and you don’t have to reload until after shooting 45 darts. It is absolutely amazing. It is very accurate. I think the chain will help helps with that. Clip fed guns don’t seem to be quite so accurate because there is more friction. I bought three of these for my family and we enjoy shooting each other behind bunkers. It requires six AA batteries and I hope this gun remains available for many years. I hope to buy three more. Make sure you use the correct darts so that it does not jam. They are not interchangeable with some Nerf darts. I think dart zone is a better company than Nerf anyway so I just buy dart zone nitro shot darts from Target or “chili” darts from dart zone online. I have not experienced any jamming for the first week. The range is as stated and is awesome for our large basement. It does hurt a little bit so my four year-old and six-year-old wear Nerf masks. These protects their eyes and makes them willing to play over and over again.

A Dad review - we bought two Dart Zone guns, the Savage (this one) and the Spectrum primarily because Dart Zone guns work with Nerf darts and these have pretty good reviews. Both guns shoot darts fast, almost more like airsoft than Nerf, we would not recommend for kids playing nerf wars without eye protection. This gun has a lot of moving pieces and little plastic bits that all move at once in order for it to fire - that’s a lot of pieces to break. Also, when pumping the handle to change cylinders it makes a plasticky “cracking” noise that is concerning, we thought that we were breaking it but that seems to be just the way it sounds. It fires Nerf Elite darts well and the darts it comes with are built like Nerf Elite darts (only foam tipped). So far, ours shoots well, except it occasionally it leaves a few unfired darts in the cylinder, this seems to be due to a two stage trigger which first fires the dart and then advances the drum (takes some getting used to). Of the two, we prefer the simplicity and sturdiness of the Spectrum, but the sheer volume of continuous fire for the Savage can’t be beat. My son simply loves to unload this thing on a target. If the Savage was built sturdier we would probably recommend this one over the Spectrum. Ours is working fine for now, but I think it will be the first of the two to eventually break. Overall, it makes a great gift (while it lasts) and a lot better value vs Nerf rapid fire dart guns. At this price, you could buy two or more compared to a comparable Nerf gun!
