Great pen!
Love this item. I wanted to write on plates and cups to personalize gifts. I was told you could do this with a sharpie, so not true. The sharpie washed right off after baking and did not seem safe to place food on. This pen worked great! I wrote and decorated a plate, then baked it as per instructions on pen. After the plate cooled, I scrubbed it with a dish brush, then placed it in the dishwasher for a full cycle. When all was done, the words and decorations were still there, untouched. I couldn't even scratch it off with my nails. I used it again a few months later and the pen worked as new. Am looking forward to using other colors. ***Edit*** January 29, 2015 I used the pen again and it still works like a charm. I keep it stored flat like it says and away from excessive heat/cold. I used it on a glass container I bought at your local "mart", let it dry 24 hrs and then baked it as per instructions. Once it was cooled, I washed it in the sink and then placed it in the dishwasher for a full cycle as I have done when I use it on ceramics. The results were the same. It did not wash off and I could not scrape it off with my nails. The great thing is I can put a picture or words on one side of the glass and trace the design with the pen. Really LOVING this pen. Will be ordering more in different colors soon. The one I have is a BULLET TIP which is thick and harder to do small words with. Am going to order a FINE TIP and see how that works. **Edit** February 24, 2016 Some have been saying their projects have come off. As I was reading through many of the comments I noticed people saying they let it air dry, but they don't mention baking it in the oven. After you make your design you need to let it air dry for 24 hours then BAKE it according to the directions on the pen. It will not stay if you only let it air dry. I have used my plates and cups in the dishwasher and have not had any problems. I hope this helps.

Great pigment! Pen has enough paint for roughly 3 plates
Works great! Does dry fast but it’s easy to wipe off with a wet paper towel. I used it to make our daughter’s Santa cookie plate, we love how it turned out! Great pen. Baked as instructions say on pen and haven’t had any issues with it chipping yet.

LOVED this pen!!
I purchased this pen to used for a bridal shower gift but i will definitely be using it for other projects! it was super easy to use and if i messed up or if it leaked, I just got a q-tip with rubbing alcohol on it and wiped it away. Ink flow and line thickness is determined by how hard you press down so i suggest practicing a little bit before using it for whatever project you might be doing. The color was a really beautiful blue. I would definitely recommend using this pen for other projects!

Fun but a bit finicky - tips for use!!
Im excited about this new medium, but it’s a little finicky! I’m using it to make 40+ custom plates for a reception dinner. Here is what I’ve learned so far! - the tip does get crusted up in between uses (and sometimes during). I keep a paper towel and clean it off, or scrape the dried ink off with my fingernail (including in between the tiny prongs of the star pointed tip). The tip is hard plastic, so you won’t hurt it while cleaning. When it got really bad, I cleaned it under running water too. - if it isn’t coming out even, shake it a LOT before each stroke - sometimes drier chunks of ink collect on the surface. I thought these might smooth out during baking, but they do not, they will harden on during baking, so keep this in mind if you want a really smooth surface. - keep qtips and a scrap paper nearby. You can scrape or scrub any mistakes off if you do it quickly after drawing. But it is definitely dishwasher proof after baking! So I’m enjoying the end result, just still trouble shooting a bit.

Color stable, Dishwasher safe, Fun kids crafting solution!
I ordered these markers for a holiday craft project. My daughter's had heard about making Sharpie Mugs. I did some research and discovered that the Sharpie markers do not hold their color. We bought and tried both regular sharpies and the oil based sharpie markers and the colors became muted or completely changed. (As would be expected - that isn't their recommended use.) We did a dishwasher test with our trial mug and even with 10 runs both the regular and oil-based sharpie stayed on the mug intact. The biggest problem for us was color stability. Which led us to these markers. On one of the websites when I was researching for this project, someone had recommended these markers instead. I ordered a pack and we did a test run. We followed instructions on the package fully. Decorated mug, let cure after decorating for 3 days and then placed in oven. Colors stayed stable. We tested it with 10 runs through the dishwasher and so far no changes to the test mug. Another big plus in our house hold is how easily spills can be cleaned up. We ordered both the markers and paint. My younger kids who are a little messier have spilled some of the paint. If cleaned up right away. It is water based and has cleaned up completely from spills to my table, tiles (even grout on the floor), and kids clothing. One drawback is these colors don't have opaquers on them, they will only show up on white or very light colored materials. That has not been a problem for us. This is a great product so far. The kids have had fun working on the Christmas presents already this year because they were so excited to start the project. My big question mark for the product is - How many dishwasher washes will we get? So far our test cup has been great through 10. If we notice any changes I will post an addendum to my review. Pros - little to no color change, so far no loss with washing in dishwasher, fun and easy for my elementary school kids to use, easy to clean-up Cons - can't find in craft stores - requires planning ahead and ordering, need to plan to draw your design on white or lighter colored mugs if you want it to be seen.

Great for toddler-made gifts!
We used this so my 18 month old could draw on mugs/bowls to give as xmas gifts for family. She scribbled on 7 or 8 mugs and bowls over the course of a week or two, exhausting our single black marker, and we baked them per instructions. As others have mentioned, the pen did take some coaxing to get the ink running again after we had left it for a few days (capped, of course,) but since our project was toddler scribbles, the initial blobbing of the ink once it finally got going didn't affect anything negatively. If I were to use the pen myself, I would probably want to get most of my drawing done in the first session. The mugs came out surprisingly well, sort of a clean, modern look, and the grandmothers in particular loved them. I kept one and have put it in the dishwasher numerous times over the past five months with no noticeable effect. We may revisit this project when her scribbles become a little more developed. UPDATE: Well, it is nearly Christmas season again, and I have put my toddler scribble mug through the dishwasher a whole heck load of times, and there has been no fading that I can notice. We may make another set this year! UPDATE #2: As of February 2017, the mug is finally starting to show some signs of wear--some of the lines have small parts where they have look like they've been scratched off--I'm guessing from rubbing against the prongs of the dishwasher. (I have not been treating the mug with tender loving care, I admit.) The fruit bowl, which gets hand-washed much less frequently, is still in pristine condition. I considered demoting my rating to 4 stars, but I'm not sure it is fair to expect a mug decorated with baked-on paint pen to perfectly survive over 2 years of tossing it unceremoniously into the dishwasher.

DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM; you will thank me for telling you not to
You will waste almost $8 and the pen will arrive and not work ... at all. Not even if you shake it for hours, not even if you depress the tip for several more hours, the pen will not work and there is nothing you can do. You will continue to hope that maybe you can get it to work and make up multiple creative solutions. Yet still, the pen will do nothing more than sputter out a pathetic few drop of oily water. You can't return this pen, you cannot get refunded. Face it, it's over. You've wasted time and creative hope for nothing. If you still think that I just got unlucky, go ahead and buy this pen but when it doesn't work, I'll be here to commiserate with you. Good luck.

Re-markably all right...
I was really surprised that it came in a pack of six!! When I first purchased it for $6.73, I thought this was one really fancy overpriced marker. Almost passed over it. Glad it was for 6!! Worked relatively well for my mug project. Survived hand washing. Description: Each pen was plastic sealed/ wrapped. Be sure to shake it well first. The tip is white when you first open it. You have to push the tip in/ against a piece of paper ( it is like a retractable pen) a few times, you will see the black ink flow. The tip will turn all black. Performance: When you first use it, the color is bold and comes out smooth. Doesn't work well when you cursive/ handwrite quickly. Use slow steady movement. Smudges / smears easily, so tie your hair and don't have quick swiping motions. Ink will dry out. So push on the tip again. (I didn't know that). Don't do it to much, or it will overflow and look watery! Best if you have a steady hand and good control. Marker will dry out, and doesn't work the next day. I went through 3 markers. Really disappointed about this. Tips: Let it dry before going over the design the second time. It will smudge. If you make a mistake, use rubbing alcohol and a q-tip. Hot water and soap doesn't work. Will try to post picture.

Tutto Perfetto!
