Can i download and read pdf file on the device?

Yes. You can drag and drop them from your computer, or better yet use Calibre to convert, edit, find alternative covers, or simply import your e-books.

can you add a memory card?

It's a fine e-reader, and I haven't needed extra storage, but to answer your question: no, to the best of my knowledge, my Kobo Sage does NOT have a memory card expansion slot or capability.

Can you read kindle books on this reader? I want a larger screen, but kindle does not offer a larger kindle :(

Not without hacking your Kindle books. I would not recommend doing that. My advice: If you need a bigger screen, get a Fire tablet with a 10.1" screen. Not only will it work with Kindle books, but it will also do a lot more: watching movies, playing games, taking pictures and videos, and much more.

Is there a browser to surf the web? can i download books in epubs from any websites on the web? not from kobo and not from the library. thanks!

The browser isn't capable of properly displaying every web site but a site like Gutenberg works just fine..,epubs download directly to your Kobo. From your phone/tablet/PC, you can also load epubs into Dropbox and they will download to your Sage's built in Dropbox section.
