Desktop Audio Heaven
I liked these so much I got the B2 for another desktop in the house, or maybe to be coupled to an echo dot. I am not using the Bluetooth feature for the HD3, I have these wired to a computer which is where I tend to listen to music most anyway. These replaced a desktop set with a sub, and to be clear if bass is your thing the lowest of the low frequencies may disappoint. For my listening it is not a factor, and I only find it noticeable on the odd hip-hop or techno song, 95% of the time I don't lament the missing sub at all. These are small, compact, good looking speakers (mine are cherry) that deliver great sound, very loud if desired, with a lot of options for connectivity. The quality of fit and finish is top notch. The quality of sound is even better than I expected crisp and clear separation of instruments, stereo imaging, etc. If you are looking for more in terms of sound quality or bass, audiophile purists should be looking to unpowered floor-standing speakers coupled to an amp. Me I am done with that kind of set-up and I don't miss it. Audioengine has finally enabled me to make that switch to a very small set of high quality speakers that deliver excellent sound from my PC. Great purchase, exactly what I have been waiting for.

Those speakers sound amazing, probably the best you can find for a personal computer. The build quality is great, the packaging is great, the looks is awesome. You can show off these to all your friends. Also you will want a sub-woofer, Audioengine S8 pairs well with these speakers. However there are few things which are not so great. 1. USB input is not working well. Windows 10 applications has initial 2 seconds delay to play sound after speakers were not in use for 30 seconds. The same issue is not reproducible when speakers are connected using mini-plug input. 2. When speakers are connected to iPhone using Bluetooth, YouTube video has visible fraction of the second sync delay between video and sound. The same issue is not reproducible when other brand speakers are connected to the same iPhone. To summarize, if you are using RCA or mini-plug input, they are perfect for you. If you plan to use USB or Bluetooth then not so great, you are probably going to get annoyed with those little things. And did I mention if you use the speaker jack, the speakers will turn off but sub will not, apparently company had the ticket open for that issue for a couple years but still didn't have time to fix it.

A beautiful set! They sound great
A beautiful set! They sound great. Out of the box they take a little bit of time if your a neat freak around the desk. but it is all worth the effort. High frequency is so clear and natural that center staging in spot on. Mid's sound boxy but clean and low's AWOL. Please don't get me wrong... If you can afford these just spend the money. BUT if you do download Equalizer APO (in my case 64 bit for windows 10). It is a must if your like me and have a limited amount of space and don't want to spend more for a sub for deep bass. I will be honest, I thought the cost was way to high for this item. But now that the EQ APO is installed it is worth it.

They worked great in the first few months
Congrats AudioEngine on inspiring me to write my first one star review on Amazon. I purchased a set of their Hd3 speakers in August 2017. They worked great in the first few months. Then all of a sudden the warm and fuzzy ended. The problem is audio lag. There is a one second delay on any and all video played when these speakers are connected. Not a big deal if listening to music or podcasts but Incredibly annoying for everything else. I reached out to customer service and after a day or two got instructions to check various settings. Every email took two days to get a reply. After weeks of this, they finally agreed to take the speakers and check them out but I would have to pay for the shipping Grr. After four weeks I received an email stating that there was a problem and they would send me a replacement set. Replacement speaker set was received. Same problem. I reach out to customer service and no reply even though they have opened the email. I asked very politely for a call to discuss a solution. One week goes by and no call. Horrible customer service in my book. I know what you are thinking, "it's your computer". It's not. I have the latest 2017 MacBook pro with the latest OS. I use other Bluetooth speakers and there is no problem. There are hundreds of great brands of computer/monitor speakers. I will never buy this brand and will be sure to tell everyone that this stuff is just junk in a fancy box.

Poor sound for the price
Great features and nice size, but the sound is pretty poor for the price. It's about on par with what you'd get from an Echo or the built-in speakers on an iMac. Based on reviews, I expected these to be much more competitive on sound quality with passive speakers in a similar price range, but they're not — you're paying for the features, not the sound.

Impressive sound for their size, but needs a subwoofer to be AWESOME.
On their own, the HD3's perform impressively for their small size, but low bass is absent. Sound clarity and imaging are excellent. USB audio with the PC and bluetooth with the iPhone both work well. Sitting as close to them as I do at my computer desk, the 15-watt per speaker output is plenty. It was only after turning on the 125-watt S8 subwoofer that this system became awesome across the full frequency range.

Great set of small speakers
Fantastic sound quality for the size and money. Great set of speakers to make a small room a party! Also great as computer speakers. I definitely recommend using small speaker stands to enhance the sound quality. I love that these have a volume/power knob in the front and have a switch to increase or decrease bass. Pair with an Audioengine subwoofer for a fantastic experience.

Amazing speakers
These speakers support several of the input types that I need: - USB output from a computer without a good soundcard. - Bluetooth Switching between the different inputs is also done automatically without me having to do anything. I got the subwoofer with these. All together, they sound pretty amazing for the size.

Look great. Sound very good. Plenty loud enough for desktop speaker or small room.

Very well sounding small speakers. Compared with my previous [cheap] speakerset is day-and-night. Works well under Linux and bleutooth connection works flawlessly with multiple sources.

Pratique d'emploi, simple de changer d'émetteur de signal Bluetooth. Bonne qualité sonore. Mais … la liaison signal est fréquemment coupée, rendant l'école désagréable.

Yes I do love these. I took the plunge for them after comparing reviews, and in reality they do have superb separation with good high to midrange rendition. I bought these because I do like the sound and acoustic experience along with the music, and these have not disappointed. I use the USB cable connection, and that gives additional sound adjustment capabilities. The 'bass boost' option seems to do nothing more than muffle mid-high range sounds rather than boost the bass, which is a bit of a disappointment, so I don't use that, but that's no big deal. These replace a very good sounding pair of M-Audio speakers that failed after just four years that were twice the size of my new HD3's, so the new HD3's can sit either side of my monitor, nearer ear level, therefore the size factor, although smaller are actually an advantage for placement. I have a good pair of headphones that sounded great with my M-Audio speakers, that sound very flat with the same phones on the HD3's, with loss of separation and detail that is delivered via the open speakers I'm afraid.* * It has transpired that I had not inserted the 3.5 headphone jack sufficiently, never was a problem with the old speakers, but now that they are pushed snugly into the HD3s they sound excellent! These were bought without Prime availability, but they were delivered promptly. They are now £40 dearer WITH prime availability, so it seems Prime membership is not all its cracked up to be for the £80 annual fee. Shame on Amazon for that!

Brilliant sound reproduction. Expensive, but worth it (probably).
