Light, but packs a punch
Earphones are lightweight, compact & fold-able, boom mic can be adjusted to anywhere you prefer, or out of the way. Package arrived pretty torn and beat up, but the contents were fine. Lightweight unit feels like it couldn't take much punishment, but I've had two of these same headphones and they have lived up many years of usage. Cord length is exceptional, possibly even longer than expected, and I find ways to double-back the cord. Sound output from my PC sound card seemed to be less than satisfactory, so I went with an external mixer/amp combination, and the quality became what I've come to expect from Koss. Standard mini (3.5) stereo plug for portable mp3/phone jack outputs, Koss used to supply a 3.5 mini to 6.5 standard phono jack converter, but didn't get one in the package. Going from a PC sound card 3.5 mini jack to a mixer phone jack I needed to have the converter, but as I've bought a few headphones over the years, I had a couple spares on hand. Simple plug-n-play; plug the earphone icon plug into your output, and the mic icon plug into your mic input, and you're ready to rock 'n roll. No batteries, or volume controls on the unit to get in the way, or add extra weight. Simple audio headphones compatible with any device that uses a mini 3.5 TRS stereo plug output, but as I have found, the device may not have enough output watts to give the earphone drivers enough power to really give the sound quality they can deliver. All-in-all, the SB-45 Stereophones perform both in the mic, as well as the sound quality of headphones costing far more. Well worth the purchase price.

Great so far! Noise cancelling a little too good
I bought this for my boyfriend for his birthday... a few comments from him and me: 1) The noise canceling is fantastic. I can pretty much yell at him and he won't hear me. (This is also kinda hilarious when he's playing Left 4 Dead...I can tap him on the shoulder and he jumps about 3 feet) 2) The sound is excellent. I listened to it myself. A lot better than the $40 logitech pair I bought myself. 3) He's been wearing them about 2-4 hours a day since getting them...he complained the first day they felt a bit tight, but no comfort complaints since. 4) The mic sticks out pretty far from the face. He was worried about that at first, but everyone seems to hear him so no more concerns there. 5) They're huge. They don't look it in the picture but they're very large. Like the size of headphones you'd find at a gun range or for use on private aircraft. Not terribly heavy though, considering. 6) There isn't a volume adjust on the cord. This didn't occur to me, but it was pretty much the first thing he noticed out of the box. All in all he seems happy...so I'm glad I chose these. Update 3/11/2013 - they're still getting daily use by him for hours a day and still working as well as they did new. No durability issues to date, nor has he felt any need to replace/upgrade them. Update: 11/19/2013 - they died this week. As with most complaints, it was the mic that went. Still, they have probably a few thousand hours of use on them and lasted over 2.5 years. For $30 I'm going to leave the 4 star rating alone and say that they were still money well spent, at least in our case.

An excellent workhorse headset.
My SB-45 headset finally wore through the mic cable last week and stopped working. So, you might ask, why am I here giving this headset a 5-star review? I teach online classes and used this little $25 headset more than 10 hours per week, every week, for more than 3 years before the mic finally gave it up. And that's not counting any online gaming or listening to music. For me, the headphones fit great and weren't too tight, though it might take a bit of getting used to. I do wear glasses and have a large head, so I'm not feeling the reviews that say these headphones cut into your skull or push your glasses into your head. The bass frequencies and overall clarity of this set is very good. The microphone always worked well -- clear and strong, but not exactly professional quality. Then again, you can't expect that for $25. Really the best headset I've owned and I'm ordering another posthaste. After an autopsy on the old set, the microphone wire wore through and snapped at the swivel joint where the microphone arm attaches to the left ear cup. I'd been in the habit of swinging the microphone up and out-of-the way several times a day for over 3 years, so that's not surprising. With my new set, I'm going to leave the mic down and hang the set up when not in use, avoiding use of the swivel feature.

I expected better...
KOSS SB45 Wired communication headset... I'm sorry, I can't give it a good review. They function basically fine (mic NOT tested). I bought these for PC use. Fit: The ear cups are too small for my larger-than-average but not gigantic ears so they're not comfortable. People with small ears may like them. Function: The sound was flat, though they were quite loud before reducing volume. After changing settings in the Realtek audio console to stereo and custom tuning the console's equalizer, I was able to get reasonable sound, but the Logitech headset it's supposed to replace needed no such tweaking (though its bass was a bit weak). Build quality: I saw no obvious defects, nothing rattled, the padding is soft. The cord looks like a small lamp cord; since it houses 3 wires, the insulation must be awfully thin and there's no room for shielding or reinforcement. Summary: I realize this is an inexpensive headset, but having had a KOSS stereo (audio) headset in the past, I really expected better fit, better sound and a more robust cable. I will return this item.

According to those I talk with the mic is good quality. It is a bit sensitive
Bought to replace a gaming headset that had a mishap with a vacuum cleaner. I can't say much about sound quality as I only use them for VOIP through Skype and mumble, so most of the quality depends on the connection and codec used. According to those I talk with the mic is good quality. It is a bit sensitive, picking up all sorts of sounds around my house, but I can't really knock it for that since it does sound good. The headset itself is mostly plastic but seems sturdy. The mic boom clicks solidly between positions and can be rotated a full 180 if you choose to wear it on the other side. They are closed over ear headphones, so they make your ears a bit warm but that is expected. Overall these serve my purpose very well and are a very good deal for the price. Would purchase again. Update 3/4/2016 About 6 months ago the cord had a run in with a vacuum cleaner. It unfortunately pulled out some wires from their solder joints in the small inline volume dongle. Attempts to repair were hindered by the close spacing and enamel coating on the mic wire. My soldering skills were unfortunately not up to the task and as such I had to retire the headset. This does not change my rating as it was my fault. But be careful not to pull the cord too hard as it relies solely on the solder joints in the volume dongle to stay together.

Makes my speakers obsolete
I used to use speakers. I don't anymore. They're now collecting dust because I use this headset for everything. I've had this for about a month now and I LOVE it. I needed a headset for streaming but didn't want all the colored lights and bells and whistles of a gaming headset, so I took a chance on this one and I'm glad I did. SOUND QUALITY: Music sounds great. I'm no audiophile, but to my ears the sound holds up well compared to my husband's headset, which was about 2x the price. NOISE CANCELLATION: This is one of my favorite aspects. I'm in a busy city with buses going by my window, cars honking, dogs barking, neighbors screaming, all that lovely disruptive stuff, and this headset makes it all go away. For the first time in years I'm not jumping in my chair because of a sudden cacophony of car horns outside. Headset + music = wonderfully smooth flow while working. COMFORT: Fits comfortably over my ears, not too tight even with glasses, not too loose that it feels like it's going to fall off. I have sensitive ears -- most earbuds itch and hurt pretty badly -- but I can have these on all day and the worst thing that happens is my ears get a little warm. The ear parts are a little smaller than some other headsets, but if you don't have large ears it probably won't be a problem. CONS: Minimal, in my opinion. It doesn't come with volume control, but if you're fine with controlling that from your computer, that's no problem. There's no control to mute the mic either, but a simple (and free) computer application can bind that to a keystroke for you. Highly recommend.

Decent headset, Terrible connectors
I got these a month and a half ago, and am generally happy with the sound of the speakers and microphone. I'm by no means an audiophile, so can't say more than "it sounds alright to me," but that I can and will say. The cord is long, and the headset is relatively comfortable over a long period of time. I have a large head and wear glasses, and after a few hours I might want to take the set off for a bit, but no real discomfort. As a minor quibble, the microphone and speaker connectors are not the standard pink and green, but rather black and brown. I switch the connectors between ports with relative frequency, and it is kind of irritating to have to take that extra half second to remember which is which rather than just plug the pink one into the pink port, the green into the green one. A very minor quibble though. The problem is that, after less than two months, the connectors are starting to break down. The microphone only works in one of two microphone ports I use (and I've tested other mics in there which work fine), while the speaker connector will intermittently drop the right speaker mix. If I twist it in the port a bit then it comes back. Koss's warranty is great, and I know they will replace or refund the headphones, but they also charge $9 plus shipping for that, which means it would almost be a wash on this relatively inexpensive set. I guess you get what you pay for, but if you are looking for a cheap headset with a long cord, I'd recommend the Logitech ClearChat Style/Stereo Headset H230 . It has the same long cord, was more comfortable for me, and lasted a full year and half for me before the inline volume controls started to fritz. And it's cheaper.

Great
Got to know this brand when taking TOEFL. Works flawlessly. The only downside is that it squeezes my head a little bit too tight.

Computer headset.
Looking for a good quality headset for use with my PC as my existing ones were overdue for replacement I found these. Good sound and microphone, comfortable to wear and a good price. As usual Amazon came up with the goods and delivery was quick.
