My old Rainbird controller died after about 22 years and I was eager to replace it with one fitted with WiFi capabilities. The new controller is essentially an updated version of my old one with the WiFi module already installed. Replacing the old one with the new one was simple but not easy due to my lack basic electrical knowledge. The problem was that the Rainbird instructions show the wires to each station attached old school, looped around the bolt when, in reality the wire is shoved in straight and tightened down. I only figured that out by digging the old unit out of the trash. After that it was just a matter of minutes and the job was done. Setup was relatively easy although I did have some trouble with the connectivity also due to my 20th Century mentality. The unit functions as intended. Delivery was prompt and complete. I will certainly consider using the same company, Sprinkler Parts Wholesale, again.

Replaced an older controller with this unit. I have 10 zones and really like the ease of use and the Wi-Fi is solid. Very easy to change duration of each zone throughout the season as needed.

Works as it should. Replacing the old one was a little challenging due to some extra wires but my friend figured it out. The wifi addition is the best part. Makes it so easy to set up the programming.

Great irrigation controller. Good app. Very easy to program from the app and adjust and create programs. It does not appear to automatically adjust for rain days based on weather. You have to install the rain sensor for that. Now the bad. The Wi-Fi module basically knocked out my Wi-Fi network. I have a 80 meg fiber connection. After connecting the Rain Bird controller to my Wi-Fi the other devices in my house were starving for bandwidth. Speedtest was showing 1.5 mag download rates or less. Everything was suffering. I unplugged the Rain Bird controller and everything went back to normal on my other network devices then I plugged the Rain Bird back in it reconnected fine and everything has been fine ever since. It seems like it was just putting noise on the Wi-Fi. Iโm not sure but rebooting it helped. ChatGPT recommended creating another SS ID for it. If it acts up again, I might do that.
