Light hold, low/medium shine, natural/healthy scent, good Frizz control
I wasn't sure after reading the reviews on this product but ordered it anyway because I try to have as much organic products in my life as I can afford haha. Here are my thoughts: 1. FRIZ CONTROL: I have somewhat wavy hair that frizzes really bad with humidity so I like to have a product in my hair during most of the summer months. With that said, this product seems to do very well with "controlling frizz". 2. HOLD: I would say the hold is light on this product. If you have really resistant hair shape, or are looking for a product to give you high texturing ability, this is probably not it. If you are looking for a product to give a little bit of shape and not be too "gel-like" this is probably a great fit for you. 3. SMELL: Now, this is the part of the review that people tended to vary wildly on. In my opinion the product smells "organic" like you would expect. If you are an essential oil user, it has a very herby/essential oil type smell. I will say, the smell disappears before the holding ability does, so that's good. I am personally a fan of the smell. It is definitely more on the masculine side of odor in my opinion. 4. SOFTNESS: One thing I noticed is that this product leaves my hair incredibly soft at the end of the day and also washes out extremely easy in the shower. The residue effect is MINIMAL. My wife even mentioned it made my hair seem thicker when I have it on. 5. It takes MINIMAL of the product to get the desired effect. With that said, I think this container will last me at least a few months.

Works great especially if you have longer hair
Been using this for a few years while wearing my hear a little longer (not down to my shoulders but longer than the standard military or conservative business look). What I found worked best for me and my crazy wavy Irish hair is waiting a few minutes for my hair to start drying before I apply the pomade. If I applied it immediately after I got out of shower I found I couldnt get as much control of my hair with this. But if I brushed my teeth and put on deodorant first, by then my hair would be starting to dry a bit but still be damp enough to where this pomade works great. I recommend using as little as possible because a little goes a long way with this product. Note: If you wait too long and your hair is mostly dry, you'll want to run water on your hands and then run your fingers thru your hair to add some moisture back into your hair before using the pomade because dry hair will absorb this and not want to cooperate as well. If you like a wet look, try using a 2nd application of this and you'll probably like the result. Overall this product keeps my hair from going all frizzy and helps hold its shape even after long hours in the heat. My girlfriend loves the smell but she is used to more organic, essential oils type aromas, so if you're not used to that it may smell odd to you at first. But it is not a strong aroma at all. In fact, after 5-10 minutes I dont even smell it anymore and have never had anyone comment on it other than women who all seem to like it and want to find out what it is so they can get it for their husband or boyfriend. Last but not least: while using this daily just a little bit has resulted in this product lasting 2-3 months before needing to reorder another one. Overall I love this pomade from John Masters Organics and have never had an easier time taking care of my hair thanks to this quality product.

Not Bad
Hard to give anything less than five stars for a rare, organic men's pomade. I decided to spend the $20 for the small amount of this superior stuff at least one time. I am not disappointed, even though it hurts a bit to lose $20 for 2 ounces of product. The good news, with respect to the price, is that (1) I know I am getting the best in terms of quality of ingredients, and (2) the pomade is so thick in texture that it seems it will actually last a bit longer than expected. Now for what is neither good nor bad: I don't know if there is any difference between using this stuff and just putting some olive or coconut oil in your hair. I have tried the latter, and although it isn't cheap, it is much cheaper than a $20, two-ounce pomade. The results are pretty good, too. It's just that olive oil is a little greasy and coconut oil is a little waxy. This pomade is a nice mixture of greasy-waxy if there is such a thing. Well, there. I have never used a pomade before, only crunchy gel and, as mentioned, coconut and olive oil. But you won't regret buying this expensive though premium pomade at least once, nor do I.

A little goes a long way..
This thing is pretty small, but I would describe the consistency of it like shoe shine. It's very hard, but that's a good thing. You only need a very small amount to style your hair. It's very light but has a fairly high shine, and it doesn't really hold all too well. But, for me I just need light hold and frizz relief... and this delivers. Plus the fact that it's organic, and uses very few chemicals makes me happy. I'd recommend it to somebody who has a comb-over or any other mellowed out hairstyle... Most likely won't do well for a mohawk.

More like a non-holding gel than a wax based pomade.
Horribly overpriced product in my opinion. At best this product should be $7.99 like other pomades this size. Cons - - Smells very mediciney like some concoction from grandma's cabinet. You are left to wonder... "I'm putting this in my hair?" It almost smells like old cold medicine from 50 years ago or something. - This is not meant for fine, thin or thinning hair. Contrary to what is says, it doesn't add volume. It takes away volume and bounce by making hair limp because it has oils in it. Anytime you put oil in your hair, it simply weighs it down. I should have adhered to this common sense before buying. - This gives a very shiny or greasy wet look (Elvis?). This is not a matte finish. - For thinner or fine hair (this is a horrible product) because it will show your scalp if you are thinning. - I am not seeing any hold or stiffness even though it has beeswax in it, even after 30 minutes. It just feels weighed down, shiny and wet. - This is very similar to gel not so much like a wax based pomade. - Oh and if you use a comb to comb your hair after you apply this product, the comb will smell like it! Obviously you can't use your favorite brush unless you want that wax all over it! Buy this product if you meet the following conditions - You have a full head of dense (I mean dense like Elvis) and THICK hair. - You like that shiny, wet and greasy look (see Elvis picture from 50s) - You don't mind putting grandma's ointment in your hair. It doesn't smell after you put it on, you won't smell like it but when you rub it in your hands that's what it smells like. The only thing that saves it is the peppermint, if it weren't for that this would smell really bad.

Don't be fooled by the size and price.
In my move to using less chemicals in my life, I decided to replace my hair gel. I found this on Amazon with great reviews. I had it sitting in my cart for a few days, but because of the price for such a small size, I did not purchase it immediately. Well, I went ahead and took a chance when my current hair gel was running low. When I first received the item I was disappointed because I spent so much money on something this small. When I opened the tin, I noticed the great smell. I went ahead and tried "a little" which ended up being too much. A reviewer said a little goes a long way. That person was dead on! It was then I realized I am very happy with this pomade. The smell is fantastic, it adds shine to my hair and makes it much more manageable with out that sticky residue. And even though the tin is small, this will actually last a long time. Well worth the price. Update: 3-3-2011 I just ran out of the pomade I reviewed. This small tin lasted over three months of almost daily usage. I even used it on occasion as a hand balm, and once as a lubricant for a sticking drawer. I just opened up my second tin. I will be ordering another to have an extra on hand.

It's fine, not amazing. Not a super hold, but also contains much cleaner ingredients then conventional.
I like most JMO products. This is good and much cleaner ingredients then conventional pomades. Their were some complaints about smell, but I thought smelled a little herby/woodsy and am fine with it. General hold: I use it mostly on my ends, bangs and to help combat some fly away. Works fine, but not amazing. Would I purchase again? Maybe. Will test out other brands first. For reference I have salt and pepper hair that is fine and medium length. I use mostly JMO products on my hair with good results.

Great pomade
This is my favorite pomade out there. It's got nurturing, safe ingredients, and it really makes your hair soft and gives it a healthy shine. It will NOT make your hair stiff or keep it very still. It makes your hair lay flat and stay manageable. A little goes a long way, so just rub a pea sized amount between your hands and run it through your damp hair to distribute it evenly. If you use too much, your hair can feel a little heavy and oily (this is because of the beeswax base). So, just use a bit, and your hair will be light and soft all day.

Prodotto Made in Usa. L'odore a me piace (molti altri recensori prima di me preferiscono altre profumazioni, probabilmente perchè abituati ad altri prodotti).

disappointment
After application my head instantly turned greasy looking as if I hadn’t washed them for a week, absolutely no strength, completely useless. The only nice thing is goods smell.

Excellent product.
For the amount you pay, you get an extremely small tin. For reference sake, its about 3/4 the size of a Kiwi shoe polish tin. However, don't be fooled by this. I've always struggled with a dry scalp due to the bad quality of water in India. I've tried numerous products including organic shampoos, coconut oil etc. None of them worked. Except this pomade. I've been using it for a little over a month now and I swear by it. The smell is not overbearing and is quite pleasant. It does not provide any high level of hold and you will need to restyle your hair once or twice throughout the day. It does have a high level of shine and I've always found my hair smooth once I rinse it off. You don't need to apply too much, about a dime size is sufficient. My tin is less than halfway done in a month's time. Overall, an excellent product if you're looking for something to give your hair some shine and medium hold. I use this in conjunction with http://www.amazon.in/gp/product/B009GHHW5Y/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_3 and my scalp has never been healthier. Highly recommend both products.
