Barbour Men's Powell Quilted Jacket

Most of my jackets are outdoor technical gear and I was looking or something a little more "professional" to wear around town or going to the office. I have a barbour waxed rain jacket and so decided to give this coat a try. The jacket arrived on schedule and in perfect shape. I am about 5ft9 and 155 lbs and purchased the large. The fit is good but a little loose around the middle. I had tried a medium in a local store and it was tight across the back of the shoulders, hence my purchasing the large. I found this a little strange because I do not have big shoulders. I'm a bit scrawny and although very physically active, all my muscle is in the legs, not the back/arms. So check the sizing carefully if you intend to buy. I like the looks of the coat and my wife was extremely happy to see me in something other than a hiking jacket ;). I ordered the jacket in the spring so haven't worn it on really cold days yet, only cool spring days (5-10 Celsius), and with a thin sweater-shirt underneath. Wearing this I was very comfortable and actually needed to open the jacket up to prevent overheating. It's not really a "puffy jacket" in the sense of a northface style technical jacket, but more of a heavy (and soft) fabric with some very thin insolation in between. My gut feeling is it should be good in the wind and cooler weather (especially with a sweater underneath), but not ideal for the real winter weather (for Eastern Canada). Overall I am very happy so far and would definitely recommend it. My only caveat to anyone wanting to purchase one is maybe check the sizing carefully.

My husband has a waxed winter Barbour jacket that he wears all the time. You can't wash it and you can't clean it. You have to send it somewhere to have it re-waxed and have the lining changed. Not cheap. I thought I could tear him away from the other jacket so that I could get it fixed-up which takes a long time so I ordered this one. My plan is not working. This jacket fits beautifully and looks expensive and handsome. My husband complained right away that the zipper is hard to zip. I don't see anything wrong with it when I put it on and zip it. He just happens to love his other Barbour jacket even though it is starting to look scroungy. There is no reason not to buy this great looking jacket unless you are in love with the winter jacket you wear now. Then, there isn't any hope for you. The price has gone down substantially since I bought it.

I got this coat for my son for university. He’s 6’2 and about 190 lbs and I ordered the xl because the Barbour coats I have bought for my daughter tended to run smaller. It was a bit loose but I’m sure with a sweater etc it will fit perfectly! Love it

Too Large was too small. X-Large it fits across chest nice. It could sleeve make was a little longer, but it's OK. Also, I make the zipper on your left side. I guess like it's of driving and England in car!!55551

Best quality perfect fitment.

A very nice Barbour quilted jacket. I tried several different styles of Barbour quilted jackets before selecting the Powell as the fit on each of the Barbour quilted jackets is very different. This fit really well in the body but the sleeve length was long and necessitated shortening. The jacket is of a reasonable thickness but not a truly winter jacket though. I would highly recommend.
