Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising, while navigating the lavish world of France and challenges that weigh on the very fabric of their relationship. Review: A redeeming season (after a disappointing season 1 part 2) - Oh my. I was addicted to Outlander season one part one, and HAD to buy part two, only to be disappointed. It was not as good (especially the male rape part). So when the show was going into a second season I had mixed feelings. Should I give up on it? Should I keep watching to see if it gets better? The thing I liked most about the show were the scenes in Scotland with all of the Highlander characters like Dugal, Rupert, Angus, Collum...they were such a great ensemble. But season 2 begins with Jamie and Claire setting sail for France. Only Murtagh joins them. How could that be good? I wasn't too excited about it. BUT...let me tell those who are doubtful about the change of scenery...it is NOT forever. Claire and Jamie do return to Scotland. Many of our old Highlander friends are back. And (SPOILER ALERT) we do get to see Frank Randall again. I wondered when he would show up and when we'd be back in the 1940's when Claire disappeared. Finally! Some loose ends are tied up. The scenes in France are interesting. Several old friends/enemies show up there where we least expected to see them, so it's not all a new cast of characters, although there are many new faces. Speaking of new faces, in this season we get to meet Claire's daughter and adorable Roger Wakefield (who was being raised by the Reverend Wakefield) all grown up. Oh he is adorable. I am glad he will be a big part of season 3! Such a cutie! The best thing about this season is the last episode. I won't give anything away but I will tell you I cried a ton. I had a headache all day from how much I cried. What an awesome and powerful episode it was! Too bad we have to wait so long for season 3 which is only now in production! Review: Great Historical Epic - For what it is the Outlander tv series is pretty darn good. Like many premium shows these days, the production value is just amazing, it's like watching a feature film. The costumes are great and I constantly find myself gawking at the natural scenery. As a reader of the books, there are always a few things I'm disappointed in that either get scrapped or changed to fit tv, but generally all the memorable events are included and I have to say a few elements and casting choices end up better than I imagined. I am definitely a historical fiction buff so I gravitate to that type of material for entertainment. This show has a nice balance of intimate and epic storylines and I find myself caring for the characters more than in some other shows. The special features are always interesting and my favorite is the podcast of each episode where the producers/writers provide behind the scenes insight into the episode.

Lovely, romantic, adventurous, dangerous- just breath taking series!
Havnt read the books, too long! 10, ~700-800pgs each, nope! BUT the series is so beautifully represented regardless. The plot, acting scenery, the costumes, just absolutely gorgeous! The 1st episode, gosh the actor that plays the dichotomy of bad/good sides, Jack & Frank Randall, dang you want to love him & hate him. He does such a good job acting his roles. That scene when Claire tells him she's pregnant, boy heavy emotions, made me teary-eyed b/c he loves his wife & totally misses her, then she lands this bomb on him after she's been missing for 2yrs. You can totally sympathize w/ Frank! Love the costumes when they're in France, so beautiful, that time period.

Never As Good As the First
I'm a big fan of Outlander. It is the one series that my husband and I will set aside some time for. My mother is also an Outlander lover and the three of us watch this together. It's our family time/movie night. Originally, we started Season One on Starz but, as we like to view it together, it was difficult to arrange a convenient time for each of us. DVR is an option but we like to watch at Mom's and carrying the DVD over is the best way to have our viewing party. No commercials. No waiting for the next episode week after week, wondering if we missed one or if DVR failed to record because of bad weather power outage. DVD is still the best way to go for a family that enjoys quality tv time. Now, watching Outlander with Mom can get a bit squirmy. If you're familiar with Season One you know exactly what I'm talking about. Lots of sexual situations and loads of nudity. My husband once joked that he saw more of Claire's breasts in a week than his own wife's. Haha. Anyway, Season Two finds Jamie and Claire in France. There isn't as much nudity and no where near the amount of sex as Season One. Thing is, none of us are enjoying Season Two like we did the first one. It's still our favorite series but it lacks the excitement and intrigue of Season One. The chemistry between Claire and Jamie feels off. Of course, Jamie is dealing with emotional baggage from the first season. I mean, really!! Jamie suffered through some serious torture during Season One. I hardly blame his distance. I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't watched One or Two so let me leave it at this: Season Two is great but don't expect the explosive storyline and wanton lust of Season One. And, do NOT allow children to watch either. I'm 47 years old and still cringe during love scenes, especially watching with Mom. :D This DVD contains the entire second season.

I was totally hooked on Outlander TV series, after watching the first episode of the first season
After watching the first episode of the first season, I was totally hooked on Outlander. I now have all the Outlander books to-date, TV series to-date and all soundtracks to date. the I’ve always been intrigued with time travel, if you are as well this TV series is perfect for you. It has some thing for everyone, a World War II combat Nurse, 18th century Scottish Warriors, Romance, Funny side kicks, lots of real history and so much more. The TV series is a bit different from the books, it’s definitely for mature audiences but I feel each of the scenes are very well done and necessary to the story.

Si te gusta el género de ciencia ficción, te llama la atención el tema del tiempo con las paradojas que conlleva y además eres romántico y te gustaría aprender un poco de historia, esta es la serie basada en las novelas de Diana Gavaldón. Excelente obra

Very high quality of the CDs. The Outlander series is just amazing on so many levels!! The sory it's based on is absolutely engaging, the actors are performing wonderfully, the dedication to details and authenticity in costumes and sites is commendable. I've watched the whole series several times and each time I'd notice something new I didn't pay enough attention before.
