It works great for its price
I have used it on my own 3 cats and it works great and I have used it on street cats too and it shows me their microchip numbers if they have a chip. I highly recommend it. The price is also very very low for a good chip reader.

Brilliant gadget that works very well
I foster a LOT of dogs and cats. We regularly have animals coming through our home and staying with us for a short while, until they find a permenant home with another loving family... We also rescue cats and other animals. As respinsible.parents to these poor animals., we like to do things right: we take down their chip numbers, names, breed, feeding and medication needs, write them to NFC tags and put these on their collars. Until we got this little gadget, we relied on the vet, previous owner or carer to pass.over the animals.chip number, but not anymore... Now we simply turn on the scanner, wait a few sexonds while it boots up, press the scan button and wave the reader over the animals approximate chipped area (neck, rump / rear end usually). It reads quickly, accurately and works every time. The display is crisp and clear, battery life is superb, the scanning is fast and easy working even from a few cm away. It's a fantastic little tool and I recommend it for anyone wanting to scan pet chip IDs.

Didnโt work
Didnโt work! Bought this to scan some cats that come to visit our home to see if they belong to anyone. I first tested it out in my cat but it kept saying she didnโt have a microchip when she definitely does. Itโs just not sensitive enough unfortunately.

battery's not great but does the job
I bought this as we have a bunch of stray cats in the area and my neighbour was just feeding them constantly. I couldn't stop thinking about it; if they weren't strays, she was feeding someone else's cats and if they were, she wasn't getting them any help. I raised my concerns to her and she agreed, but didn't know what else she could do. I turned into our area's cat rescue service - every morning, when she fed the cats, I was out with this little device scanning them for chips to see if we could alert their owners for the fat ones and take them to a vet/shelter for the skinny, dirty ones. Turns out most of them were greedy (no surprise) but a few had genuine health issues and no chip, so I caught them and took them to the vet over the course of a week. And that's how I ended up going from 1 cat to 5 cats, because all the shelters were full and I wasn't going to just release them. The device works fine, it's just a bit quick to process the microchip number so it's worth having a phone ready to take a picture. The battery is a little bit touch and go, but unless you're a vet, you're unlikely to be using this constantly. It's a cute device too, looks good and feels smooth.

Microchip shown!
Scanned my dog and cat for this, baring in mind he is 16 so itโs an older microchip and my cat is 9 months old so a newer microchip. Worked straight away with ease and shown up instantly. Great value for money, and definitely good if you canโt take your pet to the vets etc. I bought this originally to scan a stray cat which isnโt microchipped!

Faulty Scanner
Please do not buy this item, the scanner cannot be charged at all. Tried using latops, pc and power socket with original and other USBc to no avail. Typical chinese switch and bait tactic.

Inexpensive and functional
Fast shipping, functions well, is cheap. 5 stars and will update the review if any issues pop up. Bought this to scan a stray domestic bunny I caught. Tested it on 4 cats and 1 bunny known to be chipped. It scanned all of them rapidly, accurately and with ease. I didn't have to hunt around for the chip or struggle with positioning. Other reviewers have mentioned that the unit beeps and that it's loud or frightened their animals. Some very skittish animals may be bothered, but all of my animals are used to the sounds of human life. None of them were bothered at all. The unit's audio UX is actually thoughtfully designed and musical. It has a little square-wave synthesizer chip so it can output a range of tones, and it has different short patterns or melodies that indicate status changes: "I'm on", "I'm going-to-sleep", "You pushed the button", "I scanned a chip!", and "Try again". For $20 this did everything I need and doesn't feel or act as cheap as it looks. If you plan to use this heavily, like in a small vet office or a rescue, I'd be cautious about sterilizing it. It's probably not resistant to alcohol wipes or moisture intrusion, for example. I'd wrap it in plastic.
