Tripp Lite 4-Port DVI Dual-Link/USB Desktop KVM Switch with Audio & Cables (B004-DUA4-HR-K)

This is my 2nd Tripp Lite 4 Port KVM. My 1st one still works great after about 8 years but it only has analog ports & I need DVI for our new PC replacements. I plugged in a wireless keyboard/mouse combo (Logitech P/N 820-006477) & it handles it just fine. This came with 4 video & USB cables but they were separate and not the same length. I had a lot of extra zip ties laying around so I made up 4 cables with a loop in the middle to take up the extra length of the USB & make all the ends meet. This keeps everything neat & tidy behind my desk so nobody trips over them - including me. One nice touch I didn't have with the old one is the USB ports on the front & back of the unit. Whatever is plugged in is shared to any machine attached.

I needed a KVM with digital i/o to replace an older VGA kvm switch. I connect a variety of different devices for IT configuration and troubleshooting, each with different inputs and resolutions. This little unit has been great. It does not use emulation, which means switching inputs is a bit slower than others I've used. However, sometimes emulation can result in mismatched screen resolutions when switching inputs as devices boot, so I'd gladly sacrifice a few seconds in favor of reliable and predictable screen output. Also, unlike many units in this price range, this KVM has automatic cycling between inputs, which is helpful when you're monitoring the progress of multiple installs.

I've used (and discarded) several KVMs over the years, most of them inexpensive. The Tripp Lite B004-DUA4-HR-K has so far proven to be the most robust and solid with regards to switching. Here's the configuration I have it in currently: Monitor: NEC LCD2490WUXi (1920x1200 resolution) Keyboard: Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2013 (see note below on this) Mouse: Roccat Kone Pure (connected via Razer BlackWidow's port) Speakers: Logitech 2.1 system Systems: 1 - PC (AMD Ryzen 1700x + ASRock x370 Taichi + Nvidia GTX1080 EVGA FTW GAMING) 2 - 2015 MacbookPro, through Caldigit Thunderbolt 2 hub, connected via Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter 3 - 2009 MacPro + Nvidia GTX 680 (Mac edition) 4 - 2001 MacPro + Nvidia GTX 280 (Mac edition) Set up was fairly straightforward. Mac use has been flawless so far, but had a few issues on the Windows side: - I had to disable mouse emulation mode on the PC channel, otherwise it would only move in a horizontal direction. - Like an idiot I installed Razer's Synapse 2.0 software, hoping to be able to program the KVM's switching sequence (scroll-lock, scroll-lock, [number], enter) as a macro. Ironically, this rendered the keyboard completely unusable for keyboard switching of the KVM, or even entering hotkey mode (neither scroll lock nor num lock would be sent to the KVM, instead passing right through to the computer). Uninstalling Synapse didn't help; I had to manually hunt down and install the "legacy" pre-Synapse drivers for the BlackWidow keyboard before I could get the keyboard to start sending events properly to the KVM. I'm not sure this option would even be available for newer Razer keyboards (mine's an ancient 2013 model), so beware installing Synapse if you intend on using keyboard switching. Now that I've gotten things stabilized, the system is very solid. The PC did lose connection to the mouse once, which happened on other KVMs occasionally; I'm not sure if this is down to running it through the Razer's port, Windows flakiness, using a KVM, or a combination of these. Use on the Mac has been trouble-free. I'll follow up this review if I run into any problems down the road, but so far I'm impressed with the unit and can definitely recommend it.

I had other KVMs switches for DVI from other manufacturers who are no longer producing KVMs for DVI. I'm so happy Triplite is still making them. Works well. Good value. Id rather be on HDMI but that means upgrading 4 video cards as well as the KVM Swith. Since Im home use. I just cant afford that. I wish you didnt have to press enter after hotkeys but that is minor and my only complaint.

By far the best KVM switch I've ever owned. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. The only issue I had with is was the dual main usb inputs didn't read my specialized mouse properly, instead it showed as a HID-COMPLIANT Mouse. I fixed this by plugging it into the single console port mentioned for printers, scanners and storage. Love the keyboard shortcuts making it possible to hide the unit all together. I would recommend this device to anyone.

Nice unit, works great , there is a small delay when switching from a computer using vga to one using dvi while the monitor detects that the input source has changed. I use a gaming mouse and that seems to work best using the shared usb port. I have a computer repair shop and so far it has worked with all computers that I have used it on. I bought a dvi-I cable and some adapters so I can use it with dvi-d, and vga. To make this work I also had to buy a dvi-i to dvi-d and Vga splitter cable to connect to my monitor.
