I have a shorter feeder, is this able to be cut in half easily?

I easily cut slices off to fit in suet cages so birds can more easily get to it.

Does this log have a hole down the center?

How big is the hole? I need it to fit my holder that I got from Wild Birds.

How do you hang it up?

You need to buy a cylinder hanger. Mr Bird makes 2 versions that are sold on Amazon. There is a hole in the center of the cylinder that you push the cylinder holder up through.

Does it melt when wet from rain or snow?

No it did not melt away when it snowed. But when the ground is covered with snow, it becomes even more attractive to the birds.
