Is this unit just for tablets or will it hold a phone? I have a pixel 6 pro

I had a samsung phone and It could hold that. I assume you phone can do it as well.

Has anyone successfully used this on a 2019 and upwards XC90 with R-Design trim level as I understand this model uses deeper seat backs?

As long as the seat headrests are the same between r design and non r design you are fine. Works on my 72 reg.

Does anyone know if this will fit pre 2017 model? I have a 2014 and struggling for a headrest mount

Fitted to a 2012 V60 - headrest is slightly different to newer Volvo's, but this tablet holder will still fit ok.
