This Camera/Mic Combo Really Works
Decided to get two of these, one for where I live and the other for my in-laws in Russia. The camera is a breeze to install and you just have to FOLLOW the directions about when you plug in the camera. The software installed without a hitch and worked perfectly from the first use. One thing I had to do, and this may be true for you also, was to find the Sound application in Control Panel (XP SP3) and set the microphone input to the Logitech device. This adjustment is NOT covered in the instructions. Once you do that and adjust the volume of the microphone and speakers (with the included utility) you're up and running. The camera/mic is well made, has glass optics and a focus ring to sharpen the focus of the camera. The video does lag the sound and that's due to the large amount of bandwidth video needs compared to sound and not a defect in this item. The sound is really quite good. You do need to bear in mind that the quality of video and sound is directly affected by the quality of the internet connections on each end. This product also works with Skype. This camera/mic is a great value for the money.

Nice and sharp picture
I purchased the Logitech QuickCam Deluxe for Notebooks as a special deal from amazon and am quite happy with my decision. The product arrived very soon as promised and was easy to set up. I already have a Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks Deluxe that I use at work and was concerned if there will be a mismatch between the different versions of Quickcam software. However, there were no such issues and the webcam started working as soon as I plugged it in. I own a Dell D620 and the webcam mounts on it easily. The picture is sharp and audio quality is very good. I'm taking away one star from this review as the webcam doesn't have a lateral tilt and this means that I have to place it in the center of the LCD screen and sit right in front of it to be in the center of the frame. Overall, I'm very satisfied with this product and will recommend this to friends.

Great for Notebooks
Works out of the box, and the included software has a lot of useful utilities for picture taking and making video clips. Works nicely with Skype as billed, and I got this one for an excellent price (around $22). It could work better under low light conditions, but at this price I can't expect miracles. Other more expensive models I tried didn't perform much better in low lighting. Not a biggie for me. Also, would be nice if it worked under linux too, didn't get recognized under Cheese, but it does what I intended it to, is nicely styled, and fully functional for what I purposed it for. Delivery was also quick, so no complaints there either. Nice product, great price, and quick shipping. Quite pleased.

Does Not Work on Skype
I purchased this item to use with my laptop for calls on Skype when I am on one of my many business trips. I have not been able to get it to work. I get a very nice video image for exactly 10 seconds and then either the image freezes or I get a blank green screen. Tech help at Logitec is the canned variety (if your question/problem isn't listed, tough luck) and has been no help. The camera itself works fine -- it works without a problem on my home desktop computer. The issues appears to be in the software: I loaded the software on my laptop (as the printed instructions emphsized) where it doesn't work, but I did not load the software on my desktop where it now does work. The problem might be the result of high resouce requirements of the software that some other reviews have cited. Anyway that's just a guess from one who's not all that technically literate. Bottom line for me is: this doesn't do what I bought it to do.

Not Really Skype-Compatible
Both Logitech and Skype endorse this product for use with Skype for video calling. But not so fast.... The install disc carries the Camera driver and the Logitech Software, which includes neat features like anti-echo and video fx. But...to work with Skype you must uninstall the Logitech Software (leaving the driver installed). Otherwise, when Skype attempts to access the camera for a video call, it will be unable to, as the Logitech software is in the way and Skype will request that you to turn off "any devices or programs that are using the camera." You cannot turn off the Logitech software independant of the camera, nor turn on the camera without invoking the software. Once I uninstalled the software, video calling was automatic with Skype, which will detect whether the party you are calling is video-enabled and show a video calling option if they are. But of course, the camera itself is now an inert device that must be driven by some other webcam software (like Skype). Other than that, it is a fine camera and decent mike in a nice compact package and comes with a handy travel pouch.

Not on par with Logitech quality!!!
Very, very unhappy with this item. The picture is dull, not very clear. I have a high quality webcam from Logitech which is superb that I use on my pc but wanted a smaller one for my laptop. My sole use of the cam is for Skype video calls. I was fooled by the "Deluxe" in the name. I've always expected "deluxe" to be of a higher quality. Since it was Logitech, I trusted... more fool I. There was absolutely NO comparison. While I didn't expect the same level as on the more expensive - but reasonable for the quality (Pro 9000), I wasn't expecting something worse than anything I've ever seen. It was in the package new but of course I had to open it to find out what it was like. I didn't even have to install the software because of the Logitech software already installed but now I can't return it. ...because the pkg was opened!!! Duh, how else would I know if it is satisfactory??? I am VERY unhappy with this cam and this deal.
