Seal broken, poor packaging
The box of the new lens is not so new and the seal was broken. I trust the quality of Zeiss lenses, but will report on the results afte testing this one on my Canon 7D Mark II camera and the 5D Mark IV.

Warning awesome
Let me start with a warning. Be aware of purchase from Electronic Basket. When I went to register with zeiss for warranty I was informed that I had a international copy and they wouldn't honor the warranty in the United States. Further investigation indeed I have a copy that was made for new Zealand. I don't understand why they won't honor the warranty, they would if I lived in New Zealand, don't make sense? Was too late for me to return lens ! Now to the lens.. As with any Zeiss this is one sweet piece of glass. I can't compare it to the Canon L having never shot it . But it's one sharp lens I find it spends a lot of time on my 5dmk 3 . I can compare it to the Canon 35 mm f/2 is usm. Which is a good lens for the buck. It pretty much blows it out of the water. But it's twice the price and weight. Be aware that once you start shooting Zeiss nothing else will do! No noticed CA even in the high contrast areas. No vignetting or flares. Manual focus isn't difficult once you get the hang of it. I have 2 other from the milvus family of lens. The 1.4/ 85mm and the 1.4/ 50mm.... They are very addictive lol. Now saving money for the 2.8 18mm. I would highly recommend this lens if you have the resources.. But with the Canon 35/2 IS Usm is also a great choice also. I use it for moving subject like toddler portraits . Hope this helps you decide . Happy Shooting
