Review: Good reference - Just purchased 2011 Santa fe and needed to know more about it as we've never owned a Hyundai before. Almost always Fords or Mercury. My husband believes in having a good reference for working on any machinery or vehicle we own for type and quantity of oil, fluids, bulbs, fuses, etc. He does his own mechanic work and has a manual on all the cars, trucks and machinery we own.

Essential manual for every car owner
I've always been frustrated with how Haynes expects us to know the beginning steps/locatons for a lot of repairs. In that aspect, Haynes isn't the most complete manual. Also, every Haynes I've ever owned has has the WORST, incomplete (half *ssed) INDEX, to where I have to write several of my own entries in the colomn, that should be included, but isn't. BUT besides those things, I believe every car owner NEEDS to have a Haynes. There is critical information in these books, especially if you are a hands on kind of person who isn't privy to running to the mechanic for every little thing. This book allows us to fix, diagnose and maintain our vehicles on our own. Even as a younger girl ๐ GET A HAYNES or Chilton manual for your car, if this sounds like you.

Not complete. With respect to Power Steering problem nor possible Transaxle / Transfer Case problems.
General information for both the Automatic Transaxle and the Transfer Case state "Because of (Due to) the complexity of the ... and the need for specialized equipment to perform most service operations, this Chapter contains only routine maintenance and removal and installation procedures." Operation and diagnosis specifics were inadequate to understand if I did (not) have a problem with the Transaxle and/or Transfer Case. Problem turned out to be a power steering fluid leak in a rusted line connecting the two ends of the steering gear. The Haynes Repair Manual implied the Steering gear would need to be removed and installed, which for a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe requires Subframe removal and installation. I suspect a dealer would have done just that, replacing the steering gear (~$500 + labor) rather than just the leaking line (~$100 + labor). A local garage did the latter to fix my problem, more quickly and for substantially less than what the Haynes Repair Manual lead me to believe.

Usual Haynes quality
Covers most aspects of Santa Fe service but unfortunately covers the 4 cylinder engine in the most depth. 6 cylinder owners may be slightly disappointed as I was.
