Great agar that is easy to use.

Had been reading good things about using potato dextrose agar powder for cultivating special mushrooms. Especially those used for making a certain "tea" that makes lights and music and much more enjoyable in a dark room. Getting good results so far. Can't really compare it to competing brands, because this is the only kind I've used so far. But the quality is obviously good, based on the results and the ultimate yield.

This product is a jar of potato agar, a common medium for trying to grow spores, molds, fungus, and bacteria in lab settings. You simply mix this product with a little water and boil it, then place it in a petri dish or other in vitro environment, and with luck your sample will feed off of this and grow. It is a simple jar with simple instructions, it is sold by weight and it appears to be half full when it's brand new. I have tested it by trying to grow lion's mane mushrooms from a tiny bit of mycelium that I had. It has worked well, and it is also availed to transferring to a grow jar, which then inoculated the medium in the jar. Long story short the product works, at least for the very hearty species I tried.

Paid a premium for 100g of PDA, but only received 95g of PDA. The amount in the bottle appeared short so I immediately got a weigh boat, zeroed it out, and weighed all of the powder in the bottle. Do not recommend this supplier at all.

This is a wonderful premade agar mix that works absolutely phenomenally for growing out mycelium. I used this to make plates for a few projects I had my students doing, and the agar came out perfectly! The ratio for mixing is securely attached to the bottle, and it easily dissolved into the solution for sterilizing in a media bottle. The plates turned out perfectly clear, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Also, I’ve dealt with this company before, and can tell you that their customer service is second to none. They go the extra mile, and every product I’ve received from them has been of the highest quality. Definitely recommend checking to see if this product would work for you!

This is a high quality potato based powder for making agar. This bottle will make around 100 pitri dishes. I found the product to be effective and works as advertised. I really like this brand and product. Great for making pitri dishes for mycology research.

Does not solidify. Has a paper label taped on top of the bottle. Agar won't solidify even with twice the amount of media. NO RETURN ACCEPTED. First time this has happened to me with amazon. Absolute FRAUD. $33 scam.
