A Simple Cord That Does Exactly What It Should
It’s just a cord, but it’s the kind that saves you from driver nightmares and cheap‑chipset failures. The FTDI chipset is the real reason to buy this one — Windows 10 and 11 pick it up instantly, no hunting for drivers or messing with COM port weirdness. The DB9 connector is solid, the USB end feels sturdy, and the cable doesn’t kink or feel flimsy. If you’re working with older hardware, microcontrollers, or anything that still speaks RS232, this is the kind of adapter that quietly does its job and never gives you a reason to think about it again.

Functions in Windows 11 Pro! Unlike the other 5 PL series cables I will be tossing now
Like a lot of folks, I found some serious issues trying to run my Prolific PL2303 USB to Serial cables on the latest version of Windows 11 Pro Preview. In my case, it was somewhat fixed by installed Win 10 drivers, however, after the next reboot or Windows Update, it would hose access to the Com port. Tried several different Prolific cables with all the same issue. Said to hell with it and started searching for the other dominant vendor (FTDI) for Win 11 support. Their website showed live Win 11 specific drivers so I gave this cable a shot. Ordered the 10 foot version as I work with a lot of two way radio gear that is rack mounted at mountain top locations so the extra couple feet is great - no more holding my laptop up at eye level - I can rest it somewhere a bit more stable. Installation was simple, it loaded right up with a 2017 dated driver and functioned directly out of the box. Did the Update Driver from Windows Update option and it pulled an FTDI Ports specific update. Rebooted later and this thing is flying now. One odd ball item I am seeing with port speeds: with the Win 11 driver, it was always reset to 300 bps. Updating to the FTDI driver off of their website resolved this (I have a device that will run at 115200 which makes downloads soooo much quicker :) )

Works perfectly with Bose amps
Looking for a cable to connect a Bose Freespace Controller or an E4 system to a computer so you can interface it with Bose Freespace software? This one works perfectly. Communication between the device and the computer has always been hassle-free, and I’ve never experienced a dropped connection. While my application is a rare one, I’d expect this cable to work well on any device given my experience. Bose devices can be a pain in the posterior, so the fact that this cable works well with them speaks volumes.
