Q: Does this include PoE injector?

Hi The UniFi 6 Lite does NOT come with a PoE injector.

Q: Can this work without putting virgin router into modem mode?

Yes it can you will need to install the ubiquiti controller software to configure the access point.

Q: Is this model superior to the uap lr? (long range)

"Superior" is relative, superior is what respect? In Ubiquiti's range 'Lite' is not a long range device, you'll want an LR (long range) model for that.

Q: Can I use a number of these devices wired to my network switch to create a mesh network?

If they're all wired to the router, then it's not a mesh. A mesh is where the access points all connect to each other (which these can still do by the way). Cable them all up though if you can for better performance, then the controller software can assign the same WiFi name (SSID) to the all, then your devices will connect to whichever is supplying the strongest signal, dependant on range.
